Is k mount realy need badly this lens.
We have many options from fa 50 to fa 43 da 55 and many legacy A.M.K lenses.
It would be better if pentax concentrate on affordable zoom lenses like 24-120 .70_200 f 4.100-300 or 70-300 mm f 4.28-300 mm.

As the year flies by, it's easy to forget the KP came out, we had the new PLM zoom and K70 the year before that, a new Theta V recently, and then, albeit less effort, the Silver Edition of the K1. Maybe not the hype of a new FF Nikon, but there is movement where some like to say there is none.

Trolling? Clearly.
The two are neither mutually exclusive nor codependent.
You forgot the possibility of self-medicating which is also neither mutually exclusive nor codependent.

Do you know how much grief you are going to be taking if this lens comes out and you don't buy it, after all the whining?

Believe me, some of us keep track of these things.

Surprises, or perhaps expected things?
The D FA* primes are more than enough to justify such a response.

Probably your most affordable options for full frame are going to be on the used market. It doesn't seem likely that Pentax is going to release a cheaper 85mm f1.8 than the FA 77. As far as the 50mm range, the FA 50 or DA 50 lenses are your cheap options.

I wouldn't be surprised if a new limited lens was launched. Perhaps a HD D FA 25mm f4 Ltd.
Pentax did have a wide angle single focus lens on the road map last year that dropped off the road map in 2017.
It would make a good landscape lens for the full frame " landscape camera". ASP-C camera owners with the 15mm DA Ltd. seem to be pretty happy with that combination and I would think Pentax would be keen to replicate it's success in FF.
Also such a lens would be much lighter and smaller than the 15-30 mm f 2.8 zoom currently available.
Anyhow I think in a year from now there will be plenty of new primes to dream about buying. The only thing will be which one can I afford? Or how many can I afford?

I don't think Pentax views the K-1 as a "cheap" option. Yes, you can get cheap lenses to go with it, but from their standpoint, it is selling for more than any of their other cameras except the 645z. Their goal is to make money and I think they would be afraid that releasing slower zooms would steal from the f2.8 zooms they already have out there. Certainly getting cheaper/slower lenses out for full frame doesn't seem to be important.

Honestly, you will get similar performance from a 50-135 f2.8 on a K3 II compared to a 70-200 f4 on a K-1 and the K3 II package will probably be a little smaller.

Agreed although a longer zoom to match the one DFA 'kit' would be nice.
Once F/2.8 is well built, F/4 zooms still would be nice additions as well as modern but lower cost primes.

But not right now.

Not sure I agree with that entirely. Slower does not necessarily equal cheaper. As a landscape shooter f/2.8 is not something I need very often but an excellent light weight f/4 zoom of the same quality as DFA 70-200 would be in my shopping basket. I will never be a customer for the 70-200 f/2.8 as I do not need the wide aperture and cannot afford the weight when hiking. But I would be happy to buy something similar to the DA*60-250 that is updated to modern standards and lens motor.

Same with the DFA 15-30, it is too heavy, does not easily use filters and has a wide aperture I do not need. For those that need the f/2.8 I am sure it is great and I am glad Pentax has it in the catalog for them. But for a hiking landscape shooter I would much rather have the modern equivalent of the FA 20-35 f/4.

Pentax needed the standard trio of f/2.8 lenses to establish themselves and that is fine. But they bill the K-1 as a 'field camera' so how about some 'field' lenses? Small, light weight, slower aperture, with reasonable filter rings and superb sharpness across the field. 18-35 f/4? 24-90 f/4? 60-250 f/4?
