No, not at all. Happy for the news! I'm excited of what Pentax will bring out. I'm happy even about equipment that doesn't interest me like the DA* wide zoom. And finally I'm happy as a person.
On a scale 1 to 10, how reliable is your source? would you be happy to evaluate? 1 being the lowest

And thank you for the positive rumour

You're welcome! I feel funny when I learn something because I want to share it but I also feel I shouldn't because people might take it wrong (it's easier to spread "Pentax is doomed" rumours as people seem to easily accept them!). Thanks for helping me clarify that I share something only for the joy of good news ahead! It's a 10 for sure! I couldn't get any details about the specifications, but I really don't care. I know it will be a great. The problem is that with Pentax behind a project timetables are a bit... elastic or loose. I hope that soon we will get official information...

No, there isn't, or if there is it's at the prototype phase. They're talking about the K-1 and the K-1 Silver Ed. which already exist and you can purchase today.

Yeah, whatever. Calling shenanigans on that one. K-3II replacement isn't on the ground yet.

Remember that the very same redpit told us about the HD Pentax-DA★ 11-18mm f/2.8 three days before the actual announcement of its development.

I think I know a few things about the surprise. It's a long missing lens for the APS-C shooters

It seems to be a winner on paper and if it is on par with the latest DFA* 70-200/2.8 then it will be a great addition!

If this is the case, and I'm not calling him a liar.... just what is Ricoh doing with APS-C then from a body standpoint? I'd really like to see the advances made with the K-1 and KP wrapped up in a body that has a good top LCD and bigger battery of the K-7/5/3 line.

Sorry to continue the wander away from the original intent of this thread.

I think the K3 II sequel is, in some ways, a tougher camera to design than a K-1 sequel. K3 II sequel has to have high frame rates with at least decent tracking auto focus, more auto focus points (read, D500 lite -- at least D7500 specs with dual SD cards and pixel shift). On the other hand, a K-1 sequel just needs a new sensor, improvement in buffer size and a little bit in frame rates and maybe some bones thrown to the video guys.

I am surprised if there is a K-1 sequel coming out (pleasantly so), but wouldn't think that this means there isn't a k3 II sequel coming down the road as well.

Maybe we're coming out of the Hoya-induced product development desert, finally. Agreed that a K-3 II replacement may be more challenging than the K-1 or bodies like the K-70 and KP.

I don't know if it's possible, but I'm thinking of a new platform shared between the APS-C flagship and FF (including a new AF). And, perhaps, with a new 645.

The most annoying things on the K-1 are, IMO: buffer size, card write speed, the wake-up delay. Then the autofocus. I hope all will be significantly improved in its successor.
P.S. It's still an amazing camera.

AFAIK this new lens will quite soon have two FF models that could be mounted on!
Are you certain the new full frame you have heard about is not full frame 645? [stirs the pot]

Spring is coming and so will some announcements.
Not sure what your source is but I did see this online somewhere as well. I assumed it was just speculation.

This would be win/ win for me. If Pentax releases a higher spec FF the price of the K-1 will come down and Ill buy the K-1. If they release a entry FF I'll just get that one. Either way I save Money

The new DFA* lenses would benefit more from a high MP camera and sony has held on to the 42 mp sensor for a while so it could be in the cards.

Maybe the K-1 sales were so good they pushed up the timeline of its replacement and pushed back the K-3 II replacement. Hence the situation we are in.

Somewhere weeks ago someone hinted at there being 2 new Pentax cameras this year.
So it could be a) the model to succeed the K-3II (as far as I remember the new camera will not be a K-3III type) and b) another FF.

If they are smart they aim at the buyers they want the most, with a proven track record of buying new Pentax glass.
