How is that possible?? Until the computer comes back to you after you pressed the "Submit" button, you don't know which post in fact comes before yours. Two or three posts could be posted in the time you take to compose yours. I try to always quote the post I'm replying to because it means nothing without context.
It's possible if you don't spend a lot of time to write your post, and the forum is not very busy.
Maybe this "rule" is not universally accepted... but having the same text twice, in succession - especially when it's a large text - doesn't help with the flow of the conversation. It's the first time I'm hearing how one must quote the post immediately before.

@Racer X 69: thanks for the clarification.

Long quotes drive me crazy when the quote is the entire previous post. When the new k1 mii was rumored i was also reading at the other site. It was so frustrating scrolling thru pages with only 3 new sentences written. A text, a quote that was the text with a sentence added with a long signature afterwards. The next post would be this post quoted entirely with another long signature added.
So 2 netiquttes i believe in are short signatures. Quote only what needs to be quoted to remove ambiguity. I can scroll back if i want to read the rest.

Nothing on this side of the world beats the cherry season in Céret and surrounding valleys in the French Pyrenees, imho. Last year the first were picked on 24 April according to French TV. Maybe this fabled lens will be in Europe by then ...

@pjv politely asks us to get back on topic, and the next three posts show how little we have left to say about the actual lens. Hardly surprising after 211 pages, I guess.
