It's possible if you don't spend a lot of time to write your post, and the forum is not very busy.
Maybe this "rule" is not universally accepted... but having the same text twice, in succession - especially when it's a large text - doesn't help with the flow of the conversation. It's the first time I'm hearing how one must quote the post immediately before.
