.
I know its more to it then just that. Im not stupid. It was just one reason to get my point ahead to the complainers.

Those images aren't certified to scale. You are deliberately spreading disinformation.

Indeed. I'm glad Ricoh is producing those big monsters (50/1.4 and 85/1.4) for the pros who really need them (as well as for the review snobs and the test chart jockeys who will also buy them), but leaving that DA Wide Zoom on there so long without actually producing anything is getting pretty old.

If Ricoh wants to promote the K1 as a pro camera, it would be lovely if they could standardize filter thread diameters across lenses, so far we have 49mm (FA 35mm, FA 43mm, FA 50mm, DFA 50mm Macro, FA 77mm, DFA 100mm Macro), 58mm (FA 31mm), 62mm (DFA 28-105mm), 77mm (DFA* 70-200mm, DA* 200mm, DA* 300mm), 82mm (DFA 24-70mm), 86mm (DFA 150-450mm) & 112mm (DA 560mm).

This seems to me overly complicated, and with the addition of the new DFA* 50mm lens with a 72mm filter thread, even more so. If this is a prototype lens, I along with other Pentax Pro's would appreciate either upping the filter thread to 77mm like the other DFA*/DA* lenses, or releasing all new DFA* primes with 72mm filter threads. Otherwise, this lens seems to be thoroughly impressive at first glance.
A lot of the Nikon lenses use a 77mm thread. That is a nice touch.

Guess it is time to buy a few more step up rings.

They are waiting for everyone to forget about it, so you can be surprised. Only then will it be released.

I would expect, somewhere in the labs work is being done on it. Just because we don't know about it, doesn't mean nothing is being done. I wonder how many different versions they produce of these lenses before they decide on a final design.

The hood doubles it's size, just like the 55 1.4. To those complaining about the size, get over it. This will be a pro lens designed to get the best image possible.

No kidding. I have my FA 50 macro, my FA 50 1.7 and my SMC 50 1.4. How many smallish 50s do you really need?

Oh wait, you need 180 50s, 190 if you want to go on the record as having the most.

What a horrible horrible image that is. I feel very depressed. There is no justification for a 50mm prime to be that big.
Did you have the same feeling for your Sigma 35mm 1.4 art?

How long does it take to design a lens? That thing was on the 2012 roadmap, FIVE YEARS AGO. Maybe they ask a different unpaid intern to spend a week or two on it every year?

I have FA43 and DA50/1.8.

I don't care about the sharpness across the frame wide-opened. The center is sharp - it's enough for me and they are SMALL and light.

IN case you forgot, the were an APS-c only company 5 years ago. Now they are covering a 36mm images circle with their new offerings. I'm sure they dumped the APS0c one and started over.

K-1 only has been out for a year. Give them another year for development. No, give them 2 years for development.

Then the question is.. what were they doing for the first 2 years? 2 years is still plenty long to release a crop lens. Esp since they released several crop lenses in that time (some not even on the timeline). And likely have multiple teams working on multiple projects. So the DA team is likely not all working on the D-FA products.

It does beg the question of where is this lens? What happened? FF cannot be the reason. And they can't blame that earthquake once more.
