It's good if the K1 does not sell so much because it's a discounted camera with the plan to recover profit by selling expensive lenses.

Reliable source?

Yeah it's Ricoh doesn't want to sell too much K-1's for fear of Sigma and Tamron starting to make lenses for them and their cheap skate faithless customers won't buy any Pentax glass anymore .

Well it is moving. In a short time it went from 2099 euro to 2299 euro, back to 2199 euro and now it is........2099 euro (and you get a free grip and free 5 year warranty overhere).

Myself. For some people, it's natural , they don't need a crystal ball to read marketing strategy through product pricing.

Or to make up things?

"Sales and operating profit rose for the segment. Key contributors were a strong performance in the domestic leasing and finance business and solid showings in the digital camera business, with the fully spherical THETA and the PENTAX K-1, a full-frame digital SLR, leading the way."
Two loss leader products... right?

This thread should be fairly dormant until new information (not speculation) comes out about the specific lens in question. There's probably some off-topic area where dramatic discussion makes more sense. In the meantime, my ignore list has been used for the first time today, and things are looking brighter.

I hope this DFA*50 makes Sigma's 50 Art look like an also-ran product and gives real challenge to Zeiss. I honestly think Pentax has the engineering and design talents to pull this off while making a profit and selling at something competitive to the previously mentioned companies.

surfar, it's hard to say, and I've no visibility to the inside workings of Ricoh or Pentax. At least one of these lenses, the *50 or the *85, are going to make a great addition to the lens collection that truly supports the K-1.

Photokina in September seems to me like a good time to expect something in the news, so to speak, about these lenses. Which are you more excited about, the *50, or the *85?
