Just noticed, the goldband says 1:1 - so it's actually a macro?
Don't stop to read, it says 1:1.4, it's the aperture

Odd to say the least, with a 55 already out there, an 85 or 135 are conspicuous in their absence. Especially the 135 with not a single new lens available between 100 and 200mm and the 100 and 200s being older designs.

They never discuss these things with me.

Can't agree more. We need a fast 100mm or 135mm lens. And 150 or 200 mm macro.

If they design a new 50mm DFA lens (who needs it?), why not f1.2?

I bought the 55 and the vignetting on FF is bad. Unusable in infinity focus between 1.4 - 3.5.
According to Photozone, it vignettes *less* wide open than the FA 50 or FA 31.

As for real world results, if a judge found me guilty of LBA and sentenced me to a future of just one lens with the K-1, it'd be the DA*55:

I applaud the release of this D FA* 50, though. It is a different kind of lens, bigger and more expensive.

I hope it has lots of buyers.

And that there will continue to be available for full framers new or secondhand the FA50, the DA50 f1.8, the D FA 50 f2.8 Macro, the DA*55 and legacy glass going back to the A 50 f1.2. The K mount system is a rich one.

And it will be faster and sharper. Perfect for us pros that doesn't have the time to fiddle with the old and slow lenses Cant wait to get this in my bag!

Maybe now people understand what i mean about "Future is bright"

And of course..i still see people whining

More to come anyway,
kenspo, you mislead us. You should've said "Future is fat, and heavy"

More to come... when?

L.E. Just kidding... IMO the D FA* lenses should be fast, and as good as they could make (within reason). Though I also hope for more compact "travel" lenses... D FA Limiteds?

And why is it that, every time Ricoh releases something new, people do what they can to show WHY you dont need anything new?

This surprises me every time..

It's massive and will have a massive price-tag, but I imagine it will be very sharp indeed otherwise there will be no justification for the size and price.

Modern lenses means sharpness at any price (financial, size or weight), which is an approach that some will like and others won't.

@kenspo: No worries, I can get by with what I have - but you need results, so I understand

Actually I'd like this new lens to kick Sigma's MTF graphs, besides having excellent IRL results of course.
