It is not clear if the focus scale windows have been replaced by a screen or not but with a real s/n on this lens it could be a final design with e-ink. This could add something in the name.

That was my point but some took great care fo selling 1mm of smaller size of Kp that is completely irrelevant as form factor with clearly some missing feature toward simiar sized previous gen flagshig like only 1 SD card, only 7FPS, only 1/6000s, no top screen... as an obvious clue of new compact primes anytime soon...

Somebody took a humorous post, about people worrying that release of fast pro glass, is a sign that Ricoh might not release compact lenses anymore, despite recent release of compact cameras and lenses, as a great opportunity to start complaining that KP is not small or good enough.

And KP stay as the fact the biggest/heaviest non flagship camera of Pentax in years. It perfectly follow for me the recent tendency of bigger/heavier that we have in Pentax from the past years: K3 vs K5, K1, DFA lenses...

How does new 18-50 and 55-300 fit in that logic? What about K-70? What about K-S2 before that?

As to another complaint about KP being too big - no other non-flagship camera has ever offered what KP is offering now, so your entire argument about it being too big for non-flagship is invalid.

And I just love how you claim that KP is as big as K-3 because 'it's not enough of a difference', but then KP is so much larger than K-70 or K-S2, because difference is so much bigger in that case (it's not).

The Pentax D-FA* 50mm ƒ1.4 prototype looks to be in a similar vein to the Sigma.

I would like to see Ricoh/Pentax make a modern FA 50 ƒ1.4. New coatings. Quick-Shift. WR. etc. No need to reinvent the wheel.

It looks nothing like the D FA*. No element looks similar to the D FA*'s. The shape is different, the size appears to be different (77 vs 72mm filter threads, by the way), everything is different.
Go and compare the Tamron 24-70 (or 15-30) with the corresponding Pentax D FA - there the resemblance is obvious. Even the buttons are the same and not the ones used by Pentax.

No need to reinvent the wheel... let's keep it as in 1968? (when the FA 50 f/1.4's optical design originates).

L.E. My bad, folks - I had another look and now I see how it resembles the Sigma; definite proof of a rebadge! You see, both lenses have the lens mount, distance scale, focus ring and hood in this specific order!

The 50 is currently in production for a little preseries and will go in full production next time.
You can make you a nice Christmas present.
The 85 is still in prototype condition.
With very much luck we will see it as preseries end of this year.
Maybe faster,but no more real information this time.
But it's a complete new optical construction,like the new 50.
More glass inside,more lens elements,much more quality than every 50 and 85 in Pentax history.
Same optical grade like the *2.8 70-200.
Newest glass types and coatings.
The bigger sizes are the results of the higher quality to be in the line with the current sensors and with the future.

Well that sounds right to me. No glass in the mock-up, so early development stage. X-mass as target. The 85mm for 2018.

It's actually a plastic disc. There's no glass in it.

I would have thought that was blindingly obvious. In the images I have seen, the focus distance window is opaque, so there can be no doubt it's a blank.

Make your own judgement as to what that means. But don't colour your optimism on the uninformed opinions of notorious pessimists (or DPR).

So, good English lesson : mock-up is different from prototype.
And if they show a mock-up like they did for K-1, we all now there can be months before the actual prototype, and then months for tests-ajust before production and then commercialisation.
