Once again, you're missing (or rather, completely ignoring) the point. I won't repeat what I said, I'll just link to a picture:

Why wouldn't they want to show awe-inspiring photographs taken with whatever lens from their current or recent offerings on their new hot rod full frame DSLR? One of the selling points to some folks is the k-mount and how you can install lenses from decades ago onto a brand new digital body. Plus it helps show what is possible when you don't have a pile of lenses that were described as full frame but you've got such a body for sale.

And who cares that Canon or Nikon doesn't have something like this?

I think technically, PPG is where the awesome photos are that are supposed to be show casing Pentax bodies and lenses. On the other hand, the photo lab is supposed to show whether lenses are full frame compatible and as such, boring photos probably work better. You just want images shot at a variety of apertures that show vignetting, edge sharpness, etc.

If you look at the K-1 thread, there are a lot of images that make you think that any lens ever produced looks awesome on a K-1. But often those are shot in ideal situations, stopped down, with great light and your actual results won't hit that same mark.

Those are photos made by volunteering users, with some basic EXIF data and a comment.

Many of the photos are even taken by Ricoh employees - over the week-end, on their holidays, etc.

The K-1 Lab photos are not meant to demonstrate a photographers skill or art, but simply to show how various lenses (old and new) work on the K-1.

The site's primary mission, as I understand it, is to re-assure upgrading Pentaxians that their existing investment in Pentax glass will work fine with K-1 (either in crop or FF mode). A secondary goal is to visibly demonstrate to potential K-1 buyers - particularly those new to the brand and anxious about lens availability - that a plethora of lenses exist for the camera.

I find it a useful place to visit when looking at lenses to buy or use with the K-1. It does it's job well enough.

They're using an AF/MF switch on almost all of their lenses with an integrated focus motor.

All of the DA * lenses had the AF/MF switch on them and I suppose that is moving forward to the DFA * lenses as well.
