HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW will be announced soon, together with HD Pentax-DA★ 11-18mm f/2.8, according to Nokishita Camera, which publishes two pictures.

Looks like, but SDM is fine for anything but action, and there's probably not a lot of call for a professional action lens at 50mm. Hopefully that takes $500 off the price and makes it lighter.

I wasn't expecting any more DA*s.... period. Pentax seems to be committed to having the best native APS-c lens line up out there. Something people constantly overlook in these types of threads.

OK< just curious, how many of you "I have to have a 50mm ƒ1.4 modern lens" types are going to pre-order?

Do you remember what I wrote here in September?

Point #4 is something that I just heard which could explain the current delay. The D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 would be fitted out with a new type of focus motor. The development of this new motor would be / would have been taking longer than expected, some difficulties being / having been experienced and Ricoh Imaging being uncompromising about its performances.

This looks exactly like the mock-up shown at CP+ in February. No changes to the overall barrel shape or detailing. Apologies for the poor image. I really wasn't concentrating at the time.

Then . . .

and now . . .
