It's the off on switch for the coffee maker.

Looks like they taped the rear cap in place, just to make sure it stayed there.

I also assume this is ILIS. maybe they even work on software to combine the effect of ILIS and IBIS.

Maybe the 11-18mm is a macro. Covered up the distance scale, covered up where macro would appear, covered up the focus limiter.

An 11-18 macro, now there's a concept.

I really want to believe this. My spare change goes into a jar earmarked towards a (currently) non-existent "DFA*200mm macro". An 11-18mm macro would probably divert this fund. It's probably impossible, but even if it hit 1:1 at the 18mm lens, that'd be something.

I know Laowa has a 15mm f4 macro, not sure what ratio it is, but I guess UWA macros are possible to design)

The Laowa hits 1:1, it also covers a FF sensor. It's on my list of 'wants'. I believe most 'macro' zooms of the past have been fairly disappointing compared to dedicated lenses, and I don't think any have been this wide. I don't expect the 11-18mm to be disappointing in anything it's made to do, so I'm doubtful until proven otherwise.

Wouldn't an 11mm macro require the bug to be inside the lens to be photographed???

If the 11-18 was a macro lens it would say it in the description. It would be HS Pentax-DA Macro 11-18mm. Pentax has always put the word MACRO before the focal length or aperture values, never after.

Regards

Chris

That taped over bit on the side of the lens is where you insert it

I was going to suggest a focusing distance of about 1mm, but this is better.

it is probably a zoom lock. Putting a focus limiter on a superwide zoom, even if it focuses as closely as 1:2 is pretty pointless.

It could even be a catch for a small 40.5mm filter drawer. Pentax used a similar design with the Pentax SMC-DA 645 25mm f/4 AL (IF) SDM AW.
