I don't know what was supposed to be "offensive and insulting" in the post a couple posts higher up. Someone said that usually people who whine about bad gear are getting poor results due to their own actions, lack of skill or knowledge. And I would agree with that to some extent. I have seen stunning photos taken with pinhole lenses, and terrible photos taken with FF flagship and top lens. User is very important, but gear plays a role as well. The new DFA* 50mm will take great shots in the right hands, and poor results in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use it

As with most deliverables in life: They depend 95% on the skill of the user and only 5% on tool capabilities.
So if someone starts whining, you must 95% discuss his skill shortcomings as a person and only if that is proven excellent (nearly never happens) one can dicuss gear with a good reason.
Very well said. +1.

According to Kimio Tanaka, the optical performance of the HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW is nothing short of superb.

Here below a summarised translation of Part III for those of you who would prefer my French to Tanaka-san's Japanese:

Pentax D FA★ 50 mm f/1,4

Sorry guys, I'm dog-tired tonight and I don't find the courage to make an English version. Direkt ins Bett!
Merci pour la trad'

Really encouraging so far !

Actually, it was extremely insulting and offensive.
I've read the message of beholder3 completely and I agree with you. I think it is extremely arrogant and condescending.

OK, folks, let's get back to the subject of the D FA 50/1.4 and not let this deteriorate further, please.

Thank you

One thing I noticed, Pentax forum is already setup to record user reviews for this 50 1.4 lens, here HD Pentax-D FA* 50mm F1.4 SDM AW Reviews - D FA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

But it bigger chance of sunny weather and green gras then snow when it does!
I would translate that into:
  • CP+ still prototype behind glass
  • available in August or shortly before photokina
That makes me feel like CP+ will not really be full of new products.

That's nothing. On DPR, 2 people have the lens and 1 had (but sold or returned) it.

That is not good news. I was hoping to buy this lens for a school project that is due end of April.

Well they did recently say it would be released in the NH spring, so that gives them till the end of May. I would expect pricing at CP+
