Wish they just released the lens already, the debate for it is pretty epic 187 pages and going strong, people colliding, moderators sweating

Does a pre-order commit you to purchase the item regardless of its price, or is it a matter of just putting your name on a priority list? I'm wondering how this works for a lens that does not yet have a listed price.

It means a customer who has a long history of being a one person profit center for Pentax has asked to have a product made available to him as soon as it is released.

Lets turn up the heat a bit Yesterday a year passed since we saw last Pentax camera, Xitek and Nokishita leaked some KP specs and pictures on 24 January 2017(silver K-1 does not count as "new" model for me)

I think we tend to forget zoom compacts - Pentax probably threw too much resource into them in the 80's and 90's, but it was definitely setting the pace there. The trouble is when smaller companies have good ideas they have a very short period in which to capitalise on them before they are pushed aside by bigger companies copying them.

Toxic environment is actually used to describe some undesirable reality, and not as strong words. Sorry, but a working environment that punishes its employees is described as a "toxic environment". As a side note, some say Google is such a place.

This being said, I understand your frustration - as I'm feeling it myself; it's like watching a 100m snail race. But there's little point now, just a bit over a month until CP+.

The KP was announced on 25 January. Those leaks are actual press releases being distributed all over the world - to Pentax dealers - right before the official announcement of a product.
There's still some time until CP+.

I already have my order in with my local store, and have been in touch with the local rep. I've had a very good relationship with the company over the decades I've been using Pentax, good enough that I am sometimes given pre production lenses to use for a few days at a time to give them feedback about.

As much as you might be disappointed to read this, I'm not going anywhere.

If Pentax had made a fast standard lens for their APS-C cameras, I would still be a single system owner. But they didn't, and now I own some Fuji stuff that sees very little use (I use the X-T2 when I need a fast standard). The only reason I considered Fuji was because their lenses are of similar quality to Pentax lenses, something no other manufacturer has matched, in my opinion. Note that I don't post in the Fuji forum, BTW. It's not where my interest lies.

I think it is going to have a focal length of 50mm and a max aperture of f1.4.

Hope that helps.
