Yes they do... it's just that we (and I don't include myself in that "we") talk, speculate, criticise, argue so much in between official statements that we whip up a veritable maelstrom of angst and discontent before the products actually arrive. A few members here (not the majority, thankfully) are like unruly and impatient children wanting their Christmas presents before the big day. And when they get them, they throw tantrums because they don't do what they thought they would, or don't look as good as the kid next door's presents.

Ricoh could communicate a little more often, it's true. But is it really so hard for us to exercise some patience? All the bleating doesn't bring the products to market any sooner...

When lenses are being released . it take as long as it takes, your impatience doesn't change a thing. Just your mood, which becomes impatient.

Yes... I'm afraid so. Like I said, it won't change the release date, so all your impatience adds to the forums is negativity. We don't need that.

Recently, i read an interview with a Co that makes cameras and lenses. One of the Qs asked about development time?
The answer was that they take in the requirements of their customers for 12months...Then it takes another 12 months to develop the camera. So a 2 year wait for said camera. Then lenses were mentioned and the answer was"that takes longer".

Another, predominantly lens company said something Si(g)marly!

Rome wasnt built in a day(unless you are doing the Lego version) so waiting for the roadmapped stuff has to happen. Then theres the surprises!Which are an absolute BONUS!

You were the first to "speculate" that Pentax would release a 25mm, 50mm and and 85mm based on tokina's Cine lenses and I came around to that as a strong possibility. This only further cements that. If true Im only sad that now other cameras will get to have access to the same optics as Pentax users.
Actually Tokina first issued a 35mm, a 50mm and an 85mm, all T/1.5. The Tokina Cinema Vista line-up of T/1.5 prime lenses now includes also an 18mm and a 25mm.

Imagine buying a K1000 in 1976 and then waiting impatiently for 21 years for the replacement camera. 20 months? That's nothing.

Development cycles are slowing rapidly. This is a rapidly declining market, there is not the money or the customers to develop things as fast as in other industries. No new lenses? There is a sound business or engineering reason for that. Or would you rather they rush something to market that is sub-par and fails in the market? Pentax is very small, they cannot afford any failures.

^ It's remarkable how many configurations of glass can be devised to produce something which is the same (or nearly the same) when inscribed on the lens - and these are just s few of them...

It's times like these that I like to roll out the optical formula for one of my favourite lenses, the Tair-3 300mm f/4.5...
