The sigma diagram looks like this:

The D FA* 50mm 1.4

Focus group is pretty similar. The difference is in the front group

Have I missed something? Do we know about a 35mm f/1.4?

Hope the last lens is the 35mm f1.4 that never saw the light of day since I believe it was only made in a prototype. I only read about it and that prototype was also a Zeiss design just like the 28mm f2 but I guess this time it will be a Pentax design.

Could be the "Large-aperture Wide-Angle Single Focus" on the roadmap.

HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW = first

HD Pentax-D FA★ 85mm f/1.4 = second

"Large Aperture Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens" (supposedly 35mm f/1.4) = third.

Re: Pentax DFA* 50mm F1.4 looks similar to Tokina 50mm F1.4: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

15 elements, with no less of 8 elements in the focus group.
I see he says: "Everything of this lens is developed and patented by Pentax and Pentax produced. The Tokina version is made by Pentax and Tokina is using the Pentax patent."

He later corrected his mistake:

I don't have enough information to believe the comment about the DA zoom being a Tokina design though. I thought we had very different dimensions and such based on pre-production photos. And now Asahiman is posting here after a long absence? Interesting.

Its a new design and is logically based upon one of the 11-xx Designs. That doesn't mean pentax hasn't helped tweak it with exotic glass elements, just that the patent remains with Tokina as it is based on an existing Tokina patent.

I thought the Tokina was a different Focal length? I realize that Pentax is one of the different companies in trying to list exact focal lengths such as 77 and 43mm but at less than 20mm at the long end, fudging several mms of focal length is a high percentage of the total so run those numbers by me again please Rob. I thought that the stated designs were different.

Its differently shaped than either of the Tokina lenses so I'd say its definitely something new. We have no idea how much imput into the design pentax had. We do know its aimed a higher price point than the Tokina lenses so they can make something more advanced.
