One of the main reasons why I chose Pentax is its WR protection. I live in a country with high humidity and, it also rains a lot here if there's no drought. All my Pentax lenses have WR protection. My only non-WR would be my Sigma 10-20. Sure, Nikon cameras here are sold cheaper thank Pentax. I can buy a cheaper D7200 than a K-3II to which I really can't understand why they sell Pentax at a higher price. However if you want WR Nikon lenses, it will really cost a lot.

Canon just launched a 85mm 1.4 It's dimensions and weight should be similar to what we can expect from Pentax. (Hopefully price a bit lower).

Let's not forget that Pentax is working with much lower volumes than Canon; even keeping the same price is a serious effort.
If they attempt to lower the price, something else have to give.

Three fast 85mm lenses - you can see why people buy Canon for the lens selection!

Oh Ricoh, while your at developing the 85, 1.4 can you also think of a 200, 2.8 macro? Something like the DFA 100 2.8 WR. Light, sturdy and not even classified as big. I've been into bugs and other little insects these days.

I'd be happy with an updated 200mm f/4 macro - a top notch lens by all accounts and cheaper to develop and buy

Volume doesn't tell everything. Pentax has worked with much lower volumes for years and Ricoh managed the D FA* 70-200 for a competitive price compared to Canonikony.
1600 seems to be the agreed level between Canon and Nikon. Pentax will probably go between the Sigma and Canonikon at $1400-1500.

Volume doesn't tell everything, I agree. But I'm still curious about the D FA* primes' initial production volume.

I don't really understand most of the comments about the expected prices of the new lenses. Pentax premium lenses always were expensive. The Austrian importer's official price list from late 1993 had the FA* 85mm for EUR 1,300 (converted), corresponding to EUR 1,810 in today's money taking inflation into account. The FA* 200mm was EUR 1,760 (~ EUR 2,450 today). And since a 200mm Macro was mentioned, the A 200mm Macro was EUR 2,000 (~ EUR 2,785 today). So nothing new about that.

I'm ready to buy the EF 85mm F1.4L as a current it will go on sale, unfortunately pentax hides from me the date of the start of sales of FDA 85 and this is a mistake, I am sure that many people who have lost patience wait ...
