Originally posted by Rondec My general point is that there are fewer new products than what your list looks like. In the year 2013, there also is listed K30 (9 colors) -- not a new product, K-01 blue -- not a new product, GR and GR limited edition (should only be counted once). In 2014, there was the Q7 "crystal series" (not a new product), Q7 premium kit (not a new product), K3 prestige edition (not a new product), KS-1 sweets edition, and so on.
Though not new products (and as such maybe should not be in the above list) they were all released products. The difference, regardless of whether the item released was completely new or just a new version or new color, is that they were releasing products. A new item generates media buzz, opportunities for pundits to review something, grist for the forum mill and so on. In 2017 that has come to a complete halt. I don't think that in itself is cause for alarm but I can see why some might think so. Especially with the promised "year of primes" leaks early in the year, and now nothing. Maybe they are saving everything up for a big splash. Or maybe everything has stopped. Who knows. But from a public awareness perspective it would seem to me that a new release of something on a regular basis would generate the most noise. WIth nothing released it is even easier for Pentax to drop from public awareness.
