I don't buy it, not to this extent.
A new CEO stopping all investment projects? That could kill the company by irremediably disrupting the flow of operation. Ricoh is huge, and evaluating all those projects would take quite some time.

As for multiple lenses being planned to appear much earlier this year - last official information we had, in February, was about a single lens - the D FA* 50mm f/1.4 - being scheduled for this FY; with a second lens, the D FA 85mm f/1.4, not having an estimated release date.

I don't expect any new lenses in 2017 either, but for very different reasons.

I would say they are around 2 years behind the schedule with all lens, camera acessories & other Pentax stuff. And new CEO has nothing to do with it, nor he halted any of the stuff to come. But that is just my opinion.

6 fiscal months!

ALL who wait will be happy but probably not with the price.

Once again, i'll say??? that the release could be sensational, get your piggy banks ready!
Any image is better than no image and any lens is better than no lens.
Pricing will be in line with other manufacturers' new prime lines. The new Canon 1.4/85 starts at around $1600. Pentax will be in the same ballpark.
Availability or better to say exsitence is still the problem here.

Mmm sometimes I wish some image wouldn't have been taken or some sound not recorded so I don't fully agree but from the user perspective I get your point.

totally OK, if AF-drive, optical quality and durability are the same or better.

I agree, the delays have nothing to do with the appointment of the new CEO.
Personally i don't expect new releases for quite some time.
If i have to be sincere, i have my personal opinion about the possible options for the immediate future of Ricoh-Pentax, but i am nobody, i have no insider infos, just following common sense... so i guess it's fine if i keep my thoughts for myself
I have been a Pentax user since the late seventies (K2, MX, LX, Super-A, 6x7, etc. etc.), i have been waiting for the digital full frame for long, and i own more than 300 lenses that can be used on my Pentax DSLR's.
I'd say that i qualify as a faithful pentaxian, isn't? But i'm no fanboy. I just hope the PK mount will survive for long, and that in the future i will be able to buy the successor of my beloved K-1. The release of the new AF primes is the last of my concerns, all my latest lenses were MF, btw

cheers

Paolo

A dfa wide angle zoom lens 12-24 mm f 4 or 100 -300 mm f 4 would be a smarter approach than a 85mm lens .

I'd prefer a 100-400 or 80-400. However, the DFA 85 is for prime shooters. I'd get one if I had the funds. But I think this 85 will be expensive.

I expect a refresh on the limiteds (easier), the 85 next, then an F4 70mm to 2xx or 3xx something, then a revamp of a 400mm f 5.6 and MAYBE a 600f4 revamp (refresh of the FA design. K-1 will hold steady for a while, APSc is waiting for a 28-36mp sensor with shift that can take some motion (like the non-pentax one)....and the next gen MF refresh to 100mp, with a 600mm for it...

Don’t look for a refresh of the FA Limiteds any time soon. Those three lenses are unique to Pentax. They ran a new batch in 2016, which must be sold before an update. I’d venture they’re about the lowest priority on the Pentax list.

I wouldn't be interested in any of those things, in fact, they'd probably inspire me to purchase older version of said gear at reduced prices at closeouts. So I guess in my own way, I hope they do those things too, but for different reasons.

I can't disagree with your logic on the limiteds, I didn't know of the 2016 run. I am definitely with Norm on the buying opportunities. My hope on the bigger glass is due to the higher CA on big FA* primes. The 560 has much lower CA than the 300 f2.8 and the 400 f5.6 in the FA* lenses. I easily dump it in post, but I wish I didn't have to. 🙂
