The next 18 months could be similar to 2004-2006 in terms of new camera and lens introductions.

What happened in that amount of time? I still was using a Samsung Bridge camera by the time

That was the heyday of the *istD and K10D homeruns. I didn’t count them, but most of the SMC DA Limiteds and DA zooms were issued in that period. The DA*s were 2007 and 2008, during the K20D.

If the K-3 replacement is more than incremental from KP and K-70 and the tech appears in another new body (not unprecedented) this could be fun for those who stayed around.

The global economic recovery is accelerating, and Pentax has been sensitive to that in the past.

:-) the DA560 kinda was removed from stock, could be a sign that the telescope design shall be replaced by a 600 prime shorter in length, and sharper than the 150-600 of Tamron. In the market, there are only 3 solutions for 400mm f5.6 light weight primes: Nikkor 300 f4 + TC, Pentax DA300 f4 + TC, and Canon 400 f5.6, all other solutions are either zooms or heavy expensive primes from Canon and Nikon.

By the way, what does prevent Ricoh to make a dedicated speed booster to adapt DFA lenses to crop cameras?

Well depending upon what comes out... I will be in line! At least for the D FA * 85 and if in 2018 the new flagship crop comes out I might go for it also.

If you mean D FA 645, nothing in principle.

Im not worried about Pentax not releasing high end stuff, but whats worrying, is that Ricoh totally ignore requests from other manufactures that wants to include Pentax in their systems..Thats the main reason for Elinchrome having Pentax as only camera brand left out of their new lights and HSS system. And the story goes on with other brands too..So there is a reason for everyone to ditch Pentax...Elinchrome,Tamron, Sigma, Profoto etc etc..

Interesting. How did that work - eg did Elinchrome ask for technical documentation about how P-TTL is meant to work, but Ricoh said no. After which Elinchrome said 'forget about Pentax support - it's too much trouble to try and reverse-engineer P-TTL'?

Something like that Even Cactus got the silent treatment, but they still try to make it Pentax friendly.

I wonder if that is all known to their Japanese Mgmt. To me this topic alone should be on top of the agenda of any interview PF has next time at any show with Japanese staff (not local reps from the Americas, EMEA ...).
It's silly to assume corporations automatically work well. Maybe there is just a single fantastic person in the middle layer ignoring/blocking things because its his personal view. Not unheard of.

Is that a Ricoh-Pentax strategy, or they are in such a state that there are no resources to copy with such cooperations and requests (they don't even bother answering that means)?

The second scenario is quite worrying, the first one is not easily understood but still a company plan-decision.

There might be something else of course that's happening.

Ricoh Imaging (naturally) not being able to persuade third party makers to support the K-mount/645 systems is one thing. Not being open to dialogue when third party makers want to support the K-mount/645 is another.
I support beholder3's idea of bringing it up with Ricoh Imaging's management at the next interview (please, Adam).

Didn't they got somehow a deal with Prolite for their strobes system and trigger for use with 645?
