For the 645 system, is there any evidence that they are not exactly doing this? If so, I must have missed it.

Since we are already in speculation mode, how about this: they wanted to streamline their manufacturing and get the new electronic diaphragm going. Now that apparently both is accomplished, they are ready to update the whole system with a new body and a new line of lenses on the same level as the D FA* 50mm (and with appropriate pricing of course).
I guess it's lost on some that that's exactly what they said they were doing, on their webpage, but hey, we can repeat it here for those to lazy to go read it for themselves.

I was referring to the 645 system, so this remains speculation. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out that way.

It was specifically stated by Ricoh reps that following success of K-1, they changed priorities from 645 to Full Frame.

What is unclear in this ?

They are offering the 3D stereo adapter again (still?)... But it doesn't look like it will fit on the D-FA 50mm

What is clear is that doing so, and issuing penibly one K lens every year, the 645 system is already dead.

It's the privilege of speculation to be wrong at times.

Is that wishful thinking?
You would have said the same about FF if the opposite situation was true.
You're 'Ronnish' as hell lately aren't you?

You're sounding like a certain text in a certain magazine which has been talked about a lot lately in this forum.

You know... Tabloid-like.

The old converter has been in these brochures for years. Perhaps Pentax has a few in stock they haven't been able to sell. These converters only work with a handful of old MF lenses, so there isn't exactly much of a demand for them.

There's an English version of this brochure which, however, hasn't been updated to include the DFA 50.

No.
That's my thiking until some new patented product appears in this mount.
And such thing didn't happen since august 2014... 4 years back.

So manufacturing and selling product doesn't mean a product is alive? It's dead based on some arbitrary standard you made up?

Unfortunately, this rings hollow with Q and 645 users.

And how many employees does the Pentax section of Ricoh Imaging have? I suspect that they are working on something for you in the 645 area but don't have any reason to suspect that the Q will get any love.

Do you still miss AMC and Mercury cars? Frankenberry and Count Chocula? Sometimes marques just end and there isn't anything we can do about it.
When the compact camera assembly plant was written down as ‘Impaired P&E’ in March, 2017 and taken onto Ricoh’s balance sheet for manufacturing automotive products any pretense that Ricoh / Pentax would continue Q line was foreclosed.

Pentax doesn’t have enough 1;1.7 sensor volume without compact cameras to economically continue Q bodies, and doesn’t have anywhere to assemble them if they did.

The 645 system has a complete line of lenses. It's actually far more complete than the DFA line-up. While it's true that many of the lenses are older FA 645 lenses, Pentax needs to sell these old lenses off. So there's no especially strong incentive for them to make expensive DFA replacements, particularly when they have an FF line-up to fill out.

Incidentally, there are at least three K mount lenses slated to be released in 2019.

You make that sound like engineering parts, not cameras.

Yet they're still churning out WGs and Thetas.

And as far as I remember,
they managed to offer the MX-1 without making it themselves
(it didn't even offer PEF raws).

WG (B2B) and Theta (B2C) are RIcoh products from a different business line, not Pentax. Theta 360 tech has been moved to automotive. MX-1 was a rebadge, one-off, not a mount system.

Q is most likely dead AFA new products. Pentax outsourced the lenses. They’re probably gradually selling existing inventory.
