This could also open the way to sell Pentax to a Chinese partner. The write-off of as sets, means you take your losses.

The write-off of 10 billion yen is 91,25 million USD. So the value of Pentax in Ricoh's boos is closing down to zero. They payed 125 million USD for it in 2011. So if some Chinese company would want Pentax, they could have it for 1 USD! Assuming that the factory in Phillipines and Vietnam where closed and moved to China. Ricoh could keep and sell any buildings and end the business.

And the source for those 125 million USD is... the same Nikkei?
You're just spreading FUD, as usual.

The 10 billion yen is just because the camera division didn't achieve the expected profits - I'm not interpreting here, it's written on the official announcement. I'd find it strange if that would be the value of the entire Ricoh Imaging.

To my understanding, an impairment test is no reduction of assets - but rather, a reevaluation of their worth.

He has been asked many, many times, X4rd.

I do feel sorry for Q, compact camera owners and people who want future low cost, f4 zoom lenses for full frame. They don't fit a 'premium' strategy. Maybe anything in K mount other than at K-3 or KP prices, too.

This is a trend in a camera industry now. Look on the newly announced D7500 - pricing similar to D610 and... 1 card slot

That means a write-off on your previous investment.

Look at this
https://www.dpreview.com/articles/6383771138/ricohbuyspentax

Ricoh bought Pentax for 10 billion yen, wich then was almost 125 million USD. So now they take write-off on that investment for the same 10 billion yen! So the value for Pentax in the Ricoh books is not very much anymore.

No, thanks, I'm waiting for monochrome to explain - as he won't put the most negative spin possible
Like you do when claiming it's about writing off Pentax.
