The Pentax KP Battery Grip Now Available in Japan

RICOH announced today April 13 on the KP page of their Japanese website that the battery grip for the KP (D-BG7) is now available in Japan. Let's hope it soon will show up in other markets as well.

If it's available in Japan, won't it be available everywhere via the Internet? When I purchased the "01" lens for my Q-7, I purchased it from a Japanese merchant, because no one in the U.S. admitted to selling them then,

Ricoh is not providing Q line in U.S.( source-recent CP+ interview) Grip should be available worldwide in standard distribution, no need to worry about

I don't think it even makes sense in Australia. I believe the battery grip must be paired with the largest of the interchangeable KP grips, but they are only supplying the smallest one here.

Ironic: the real appeal of the KP IMHO, are it's petite dimensions, then you add a massive-looking grip that must almost double the size and weight.

The battery grip supposedly ships with the large hand grip.

This product makes me wonder what Pentax is thinking {assuming they are thinking}. Adding this to the KP creates a camera that is neither svelte nor has full capabilities of K-3ii

INSA one possible complaint about the KP is short battery life. A minimal size add-on to the bottom plate that was itself a large rechargeable battery might be an especially attractive accessory. It could be significantly smaller than the Quantum Instruments batteries that attach to a camera via the tripod socket and power a camera via a cord, and also smaller than the LX winder and still provide double to triple the life of the standard battery which would also still be functional = 3 to 4 times the number of shots. That would be really welcome to photographers who frequently or regularly use the pop-up flash.
