Haven't Olympus and Pentax shared many of the same components in the recent rugged cameras?

So the Pentax may share much of the same hardware as the Olympus, but there will likely be some unique differences...

More like Ricoh and Olympus both paid Asia Optical to make cameras for them, with little to no involvement by their own engineering departments. Note also similarities between the Ricoh WG-M1 and Kodak / JK Imaging SP1 (JK Imaging is closely associated with Asia Optical).

Well, they have improved the "shockproof" spec ever-so-slightly. And the screws are turned to slightly different angles. But other than that it could be the exact same render.

(Ricoh sure is getting their money's worth out of their plastic mold tooling for the camera housing!)

Waterproof 14m and shockproof 1.6m were already the specifications of Ricoh WG-40 (launched after WG-30 albeit in Japan only).

It is also in the WG-5 Which is a more expensive model, probably because of GPS and front lcd. So Ricoh still has two wg camera models...
