Also, all lenses for down-under wallabies must be made for LH drive too; you turn them in an opposite direction, and when you do that, it means zooming out, not zooming in.
is that a southern hemisphere thing, like water down the pludhole?

Well it looks very similar. Maybe the only difference is the autofocus drive system. Although they still call it USD. Well the Pentax D-FA* 24-70 in my imagination is nicer looking.

And it's an aesthetical fail, as the rest of this new product line...

It's very much Sigma-like.

According to photorumors tamron will release a new and imprmoved 24-70 2.8 lens. Will pentax get this lens rebadged as an FA* lens and if so what would it have to offer over the stock tamron? Better sealing different lens coatings?

Nope.

Pentax is only good at announcing things, delivery is the problem. 50/85 are not here yet. They can announce 24/35/105 at the same time - I don't care.
Long discussion on a second version of a Tamron design for Pentax shows how desperate we really are. The discussion implies that we do not trust Pentax to deliver a 24-70/2.8 in the near future. Need more FF glass, need more Pentax glass.

Uhh... maybe you didn't found out, but Pentax has a 24-70 f/2.8 Do they really need another, "in the near future"?

That's what I meant. They never were announced.
The DFA though was and then was delayed. That is true.

A lens on a roadmap is NOT an announcement.
