Ricoh-Imaging Website?

So any rumors on what is happening with the Pentax Website?

Note on site states
"We will not be able to accept or process any web orders starting midnight June 29th until August 3rd. During this time we will be doing some maintenance on our site to make it a better experience for our customers. If you place an order before midnight on June 29th your order will be processed.
We appreciate your patience. Thank You!"

This date was originally a week or so and it keeps getting pushed back, now over a month on their website. Now past the data again and the site is still having issues.

Just curious what is happening.

Steve

It is clearly stated "maintenance on our site" but obviously there is a train wreck behind the scenes if this is taking a month longer than originally expected.
Also most companies plan a new site and do a roll over to the new site rather than a taking down parts of the current site.

If it's only a new site, and there's a seamless migration procedure.
Maybe it's not a coincidence - Ricoh's NA operations are suffering a full reorganization.

Probably tooling up for the K-3 III announcement and the corresponding rush of pre-orders.

You should be glad, your region's website is being updated. Try going to Ricoh Global, select Asia, select Philippines|English. You'll end up at our exclusive Pentax dealer's sight. There you will find the the K-30, K-01, Q10 and other cameras about their age. I'm surprised! Not even a k-5 or a k-50! Probably it will show the K-3, three years from now, the k-3II five years from now and the KP ten years from now. And, as some of you know, Pentax cameras are made here.

Their web store has always been bad, perhaps attempts to patch it up have failed and they are working on moving to a new platform.

Thankfully, with stores like B&H, Amazon, Adorama offering equal or lower pricing, rewards, easier returns, faster CS, and free/faster shipping, there's no reason to order from ricoh anyway

Sure, think about the mad dash to the site when Ricoh reveals that the K-3 II successor will use Samsung's 28mp sensor and also feature PS3D, the innovative 3 dimensional Pixel Shift technology that will allow limited adjustment to the focus point after the image is captured.

Unfortunately, it still won't have D500-class AF performance.

And even if it does, we will make believe it doesn't so as not to break our negative mojo...

Is there something you are particularly needing to do there that can't be accomplished on the English version of the Japan site?

Well yeah, I mean, it doesn't even matter if my original statement is correct or not.* "Alternative facts" and all that.

Pentax's AF is inferior to Canikon is so ingrained in the Pentaxian psyche that we might cease to be who we are if it were proven to no longer be true.

I just surfed over to us.ricoh-imaging and saw that they describe the KP as "weather proof". Hm.

*My Pentax DSLR is a K-5 II, and nearly exclusively I use manual focus lenses with it.

Changes to the product line, and the protocols for purchasing through the site and vendors are being addressed. Notice that the optically sound 17-70 mm is no longer found as likely will receive an upgrade. Mine works great, inspite of the focus dampening issue, and is optically sound. We likely will see an emphasis on more of the KAF4 mount lenses, and some kind of interactive opportunities with site functions. Things are being redefined here, and in Japan.
