It doesn't add much as I see it .... the K1 doesn't fit well, in my opinion, as a luxury, premium item that needs to shine visually and draw ooohs and ahhhs .I think most users and potential buyers see it as a quality, high performance, value for money photographic tool, with a practical and rugged emphasis. That's its marketing strength I feel. So I predict that perhaps the demand for the silver model, considering the price premium, would be 'specialised', shall we say ......

I would consider one if I were looking for a K-1. But, I own a K-1. It doesn't look at all like the SV I started with. It doesn't have the nostalgic appeal I thought it would have. But still, if i were looking for a K-1, I'd consider it.

Things used to be so simple.

Hmmm... The camera looks fine, but with the grip added, the silver vs black areas look a bit... well, I don't quite know how to describe it... inelegant?

Same great camera, though, so I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. I'm sure some will love it, and why not?

What I notice is the grip makes it very long and the left side of the camera looks too narrow. I've never noticed that on mine, with no grip.

metal vs plastic I guess? Are these old pentax body in metal ?

I never liked the grey-plastic look. Always thought it looked cheaper than black.

What's most annoying is the grip doesn't match the body. Black parts and silver parts don't line up. It makes it look like a foreign franken-object just tacked on for show.

It's designed to mount silver lenses, not so much to look good without lenses.

That pretty much sums up what I don't like about it. I think the standard black grip would look better on the silver body, but collectors will want the matching unit...
