Nokishita Camera has posed images of the new Theta. Not just the camera, but also what looks like a new underwater case and directional microphone add-on.

Looking good. Ricoh is really developing this product with attention to detail.

Wow.. way ahead of the game. Not that I am a user of this technology but Theta is a very slick looking device and boy that mic is sexy.

great interview. Thanks for posting. Spatially registered sound is a very interesting development for the Theta. Great to see a couple of developers showing such enthusiasm for the concept.

Often good ideas come too early.
Remember when DVD came and the whole multichannel speakers thingie?
Well, Quad speakers (2xStereos) were out at early Pink FLoyd era (even Quad encoded vinyls).

Didn't stick in the market. But DVD/SACD and now BD etc has reused the idea and it works well. And not only for movies.

Some idea just need to mature and sometimes market needs to mature.

DPR has two 360 deg 4k cameras on their home page, but neither was Theta...

If they aren't really on it, they may lose their market...

It's cheaper than I thought, but the accessories are quite pricy. The rumoured US price (429 dollars) seems very reasonable.

It seems that spatial sound linked to the 360 image is the big selling point, as well as 4K resolution. There is no mention of how Android is implemented in this information, though. That was clearly stated as one of the features back in spring.
