I've said this for years....two GR bodies.

I doubt a small form factor zoom can use the APS-C size sensor. You could, but the zoom would be at most 2.5x, which is not much at all compared to the competition. And teens would be substantial to get f/2.8.

If Sony can do this, why not Ricoh? It's a small, but viable market that can thump any smartphone sensor, especially on optics.

Another way to look at this is as a Q replacement. The bane of the Q was a too small sensor.

The Pentax (Ricoh) world is indeed desperate for anything to talk about..............................
When rumor sites begin to cite this thread we’ll know the circle is complete. .

Yes, small enough to do magazine covers.

GRZ? Z for zoom? I say it is just someone's fantasy not more. GR is doomed.

I really hope this is true. It sounds like just what I’m looking for. Something like the GRD at the wide end, with more versatility.

Impressive though the GR was, I had very mixed feelings about it moving to a large sensor. I think it lost as much as it gained from that decision.

It’s interesting the the GRD IV’s price on the second hand market in Japan is quite close to the GR, which indicates that I’m not the only one that feels this way.

Well, if it's not a single focal length, preferrably equiv. 28mm, it's not a GR... ergo also not a replacement. If they bring a APS-C compact with a fast zoom lens in a smaller body than a GR I might be in purchasing mode. But I highly doubt that.
Its is GRZ so it is not GR.
GR + Zoom = GRZ
Additional 50% in name length so it is obviously not GR.
Seriously, probably another 1" sensor "RX100 killer".
Yawn.

So let's talk again about lenses that are coming for sure but not before 100 year aniversary of AOC.

Absolutely not. Small sensor is an asset of the Q. The obsession with sensor size has gone too far, the small sensor produces great images.

Interesting bought but based on what?
What did the GR lose from the GRIV exactly ?

24-60mm f1.7-2.8 couldn't be neither APS-C, nor FF zoom...

I mean that from the GRD IV to the GR, a number of things changed, some for the better, some for the worse, and others that are largely a matter of opinion.

Gained (due to APS-C sensor)
- High ISO performance
- Ability to isolate subject through DOF

Lost (due to sensor)
- Lens got slower f1.9 to f.2.8
- Sensor shift stabilization
- Battery life (CIPA rating went down from 390 to 290)
- Body size/weight increased
- Close focusing ability (GRD IV 1cm; GR 10cm)

Lost (not related to sensor)
- PDAF window for hybrid AF system
- Lost ability to use standard batteries in the same compartment as the lithium rechargeable

Changed (matter of opinion)
- Tendency towards broad/narrow DOF
- Aspect ratio changed

So I feel that the impact of the bigger sensor was somewhat lessened by the loss of IBIS and the slower lens. At the same time the camera got less compact and lost some other features. I'm not trying to say the GR was worse by any means, but the character of the camera changed more than looks would indicate.
