There are six examples in the patent application 2017-187785: four are 82.4-156mm f/4.6 lenses, two are 92.7-174.6mm f/4.6 lenses, all of them are DA 645 lenses with an image circle having a diameter of 55.5mm.

This might be the patent of the "Tele Zoom" on the Pentax 645 roadmap, which would be the HD Pentax-DA 645 90-180mm f/4.5ED AW SR.

Ouch!
Indeed, and it could be the tele zoom on the 645 roadmap.

Jeff, I'll ask again: which of the patents are related to machine vision and industrial applications?
Let's take the first 15 (most recently published actually), the first page. Please note that I've only skimped through them; but I can link the following to digital cameras and even SLRs/Pentax:
1. JP-A- 2017-187785 - a zoom lens, examples given being ~80-150mm f/4.5 FF (if I'm not mistaken)
2. JP-A- 2017-188804 - something sensor related, about dark current noise suppression and reducing lag. To quote from the patent itself: "In the following, a digital single lens reflex camera will be described as an embodiment of the present invention."
3. JP-A- 2017-181699 - PLM lens barrel
4. JP-A- 2017-181717 - 5 axis SR
5. JP-A- 2017-183998 - compensating for defective pixels - digital cameras are referred to in the patent
6. JP-A- 2017-184600 - also SR?
7. JP-A- 2017-173801 - SR
8. JP-A- 2017-173802 - image tilt? SLR cameras are referred to in the patent
9. JP-A- 2017-161756 - optical (reflex) viewfinders
10. JP-A- 2017-161816 - camera on tripod

Others were too generic (anti-fogging lens coating, improved autofocus) or too hard to figure them out, but I didn't find any instance striking me as a "machine vision and industrial applications".

If those are newer patents, maybe the sr is for a 645 system?

I would not jump to such conclusions.
Those are newer patents, as in the publication date is quite recent. However, the application date is not necessarily recent, and how exactly is it tied with real products?

The application date of the "645 Tele Zoom patent" published on 12 October 2017 is 31 May 2017.

And for the "PLM barrel" patent, 30th March 2016 (for example)

By the way, "10. JP-A- 2017-161816" in your list is about SR compensating for mirror and shutter shock when a camera or its lens is fixed on a tripod.

The essential part was that it is about consumer cameras.
We could find many interesting patents; however figuring out what they do precisely might be difficult, at least time consuming.

Is it no D-FA lens? Hoping for an FF 645 camera....

No, it is not, nor is HD Pentax-DA 645 28-45mm f/4.5ED AW SR.

I think Ricoh Imaging are considering that the smc Pentax-FA 645 33-55mm f/4.5AL, smc Pentax-FA 645 45-85mm f/4.5 and smc Pentax-FA 645 80-160mm f/4.5 are enough to satisfy the need for 'FF 645' f/4.5 zoom lenses.

Well, yes, but today nefarious entities can just ram you over.

The biggest threat on the road is people.

The Simple Solution to Traffic - YouTube

Maybe a solution for congested cities but totally unworkable in much of America. With this solution you are relinquishing another freedom to the bureaucracy. It ain't gonna happen in your lifetime I can assure you!

Why would it be unworkable?

But you already do! Who controls the trafic lights? ho places stop signs? Who decides on the speed? Who pays the cops who try to enforce the rules? Who controls the buses?

In fact, given the way the market is evolving, you'd be relinquishing control to the likes of Google and Tesla, not the government.

I understand that for Americans, government control is a deeply ingrained fear (it isn't for much of the rest of the world, not to the same level). But collectively, we don't have a problem abandoning our privacy to online companies so we can look at more cat pictures :P We grant access to most of our lives to Google and all, because it's convenient. When autonomous cars really become mainstream, we'll dive in for the same reason : it's convenient (and much, much safer).

If you can't see the inherent dangers and problems with something like this I feel sorry for you. Please do not reply as I do not with to continue this discussion.
