Guys, why does everybody here exclude the option that this could be the roadmapped "fisheye zoom lens"?

Unless FISH EYE is hiding to the right of the lettering instead of something like ED IF SDM AW - or - well, there's nowhere for FE to hide near 2.8/11-18, it is a 1:2.8 11-18mm ZOOM.

This is the lens that I was waiting for! For me it is an instant buy as soon it will hit the shelves.

Does it always say "fisheye" on the ring of the lens if it is one?

It's not a fisheye lens its the DA lens on the roadmap, now upgraded to DA* level. Great lens, not the FF fisheye, its a lens for the APS-C users.

If it was a fish-eye, 95% chance we would see it just looking at the front element IMO.
Second, APS has already its fish-eye lens. FF has no recent one.

This is awesome. I might have to re-evaluate my crop strategy, having just sold my K-3, DA*16-50 and DA*50-135.

Ummmmm, the DA*50-135 is internal focus and internal zoom. No extension at all. Did you mean the DA*60-250?

This lens looks to have an extra switch on the right hand edge of the image. It is likely to be a zoom lock, so prepare for disappointment.
Yeah I thought about that a little later. thanks for mentioning the proper term - internal zoom. But that's alright, it isn't disappointing. It's just that internal zoom and focus are truly stellar design features for me

I think Ricoh has drastically changed the plans for this lens. The roadmap looked more like a 12-28

It will be very interesting to see how this lens performs on K-1 in FF mode.
