Arghh!!! I have had enough now. The K3 or K 3 ii are fine cameras. The KP is a marmite camera. I would like a K3iii, but I do not lose sleep over one. Ricoh, just give us some more lenses!

Yeah, it's almost as strange as, say ... WG-M1. Or 645Z. Or *ist DS2.

Wrong idea.
WG-M1 is name of P&S camera. Not DSLR. WG is the traditional name of waterproofed, shock-resistant P&S cameras. M1 is to differ from ordinary WG.

KZ922 is absolutely nonsense name for DSLR.

645 is the name of mount. It's logical.
Pentax *ist DS2 is Pentaxist Digital, S - simpler version of *ist D, 2 - second modification of DS.

And *ist is the using of name of film line of Pentax cameras.

KZ922 means nothing.

I believe 922 is just a jock and is derived from 911.

Well, it's certainly something you couldn't sell in Germany, a rather large camera market.

KP (Current)
KQ (confusion with Q?)
Kr (Already used)
KS [1|2] (Already used)
KT (?)
KU (phonetic confusion with Q?)
KV (?)
KW (Used in 'Pentax' endoscope part numbers etc)
KX (Already used as KX : film and K-x : digital)
KY (Don't go there...)
KZ

So end of the western alphabet is down to KT, KV and KZ. As the 645 went from D straight to Z, maybe KZ is the next APS-C type designation??? Works better than a K33 (K3iii)...

Delayed for quality control issues - really? Already truly delayed for over ten years, since the 12-24mm came out in 2005-06? It is my firm belief, Pentax could have owned and ruled the aps-c landscape photography market, if only they had either weather-sealed or updated or expanded and weather-sealed the 12-24mm - a lens, at least for me, that was too expensive to loose to the elements and not quite wide enough. Lucky for Pentax, until the new Tamron 10-24mm came out in 2017 for Canikon, and now the new Fuji 8-16mm, there have been no others to take the lead on such an animal, and then again Canon and Nikon have come out with their dirt cheap 10-18 and 10-20mm lenses, to sacrifice to the gods and elements for that once-in-a-lifetime blizzard or rain shot...
Sigma 8-16, though not weather sealed, exists for quite some time as well.
I remember having used it extensively during rainy season in Asia without any problem

Stranger things have happened (like *ist D)!

Since Pentax seems to always count down as they make newer and more advanced models, 922 would leave lots of room for future generations!
