I think they won't tell you until they will tell you in 2019 because 2019 will be 100 years old.

Yesterday, I knew from CP+ that they are working on a K-3 replacement. Today I know that they are exploring all kinds of options; their unwillingness to repeat, or even reference, the comments from February may or may not indicate a change in direction.

But it doesn't matter to me. If my K-30 fails, I'll purchase a KP; I'll purchase nothing from Ricoh otherwise, because I don't know that it will be useful six months from now. I feel sympathy for anyone who has to make a purchasing decision right now, especially if the deceased camera is a member of the K-7/5/3 family.

A longer answer was written by Ole (one of the administrators of Pentax Forum) as a comment to the Interview with Ricoh Imaging - Photokina 2018 - Photokina 2018 | PentaxForums.com.

I will quote it here.
QuoteOriginally posted by Ole:
On a K-3 II replacement, the question was asked and it was answered as stated in the overview section: RICOH is investigating what users prefer and how (for what) they use their cameras within the three formats APS-C, FF, and 645 as a basis for deciding the future direction, hereunder DSLR vs. mirrorless. In other words, no concrete answer at this time.

Next year we should see three lenses per the road map and I suspect the camera road map will become clear as well.
So, at CP+ 2018 they said that a successor to K-3 II 'was going to enter development' -as per Adam's own words:

Hmm... This gives me the impression we won't see the launch of the successor to K-3 II anytime soon...

Actually they seem to do exactly the same as with the K-1: say they're doing it in an interview, then "no comment" until an official announcement.

So, the next one will be the K100?

Yay! We'll see a mock-up at CP+ 2019, the camera will be announced at CP+ 2020 and available from 28 April 2020 onwards.

No, because before some of us understood that they had been working on a K-3 replacement since February.

Maybe they just want to sell more KP cameras before making any announcement? They probably have a huge stockpile and would prefer to see this come down first.

I was planning on purchasing a KP this spring - but I'm not purchasing anything from them until I know what short-term opportunities will be.

Ok, that tells me what I need to know......thanks Adam

Alright people, figure this one out. It should be pretty clear what a no answer means.
