Maybe Ricoh are putting all their eggs into a FF DSLR basket and are planning a camera similar to the Nikon D850? Give it a 50Mp sensor and 4K video etc. Maybe this camera in crop mode will be the K3 replacement?

Where does that leave us?
It leaves us with a KP and a K1II.

Yes
They are going up market. If you can't stomach the price then buy the KP. Simple.

Actually, to replace a flagship APSC camera. There is still the KP for all else.

I think the flagship Pentax camera will be a FF. Just look at the lens development.D FA* lenses. FF is very fashionable now, as is mirrorless. Pentax are committed to DSLR cameras. It is a very competitive market now. I think Ricoh will pool all resources into developing a high end FF camera. Maybe this tech will trickle down to ASP-C in the future if there is a business case. Just my thoughts.

FF and Medium format are tiny part of Pentax profit,
so assuming that will be no any new APSC is just wrong.

Sure, the on going trend is in the mirrorless FF - but others manufactures is leaving their pro consumer line up and updating it.

Pentax is just slow. They have problems with their head executives, and maybe fresh development team, and we cannot forget the SONY is the leader in sensor industry.

Small needs tend to have bigger output price.
Canon surely can make better deal with Sony , than Pentax can.

But, I'm sure positive
they will be launch new APSC camera - KP is a clearly the evidence they're not forgeting it.

I am just talking about the flagship model being FF. I am sure ASP-C has a future. It is especially useful for macro and long telephoto shooting.

All manufactures have long history in APSC - and their development in FF have to make some money.

Sure they are pushing FF, because of that - but I can assure you - it's simply not consumer niche, and without APSC flagships - they will not make more money.

They're just pushing it, because it's the new stuff. That's all.

First manufacturer with very good PRO apsc, and older brother in PRO FF - would benefit from the market

This thread is also the good example for that.
K3 is very well balanced camera, and it can be used with more than decent results - even 4 years after release.

With good glass - it can deliver very fine and professional results.

There are some who are pure APSC users and that includes me. So be it Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji or Pentax there will be always a demand for APSC cameras.

Maybe the K3 replacement will be a sub 2000 dollar FF camera simlilar to the D750 in specs. Crop mode will be a bit meh but otherwise it could be good follow up. I would buy one.

Stop and think about that statement. Who in their right mind would want that?
