No no no.....the average dslr is 75 % of the cost of the average mirrorless. .......

Actually dslr is for people who can't afford a propper mirrorless these days. You know people who get stared at because they are so pore. ...

Buying a "cool" camera comes at a premium price. DSLR's aren't cool don't you know.

With that being said many new mirrorless are very quick and capable camera's and that is reflected in the prices.

There IS some overlap: Colourful, fast moving things, and the photographer doesn't get to direct the action or call for retakes when the shot failed.

My subjects are a lot prettier and more exciting though. Also smaller and more fast-moving.
The camera must like focussing on soccer players more!

I think it is pretty clear what the "K-3" replacement is all about from whats leaked out:

1) It is sufficiently different in tech and/or execution not to be be considered as a direct sucessor to the K-3.
2) It will be an APS flagship and from whats suggested early this year, the K-mount flagship (hence K-1 owners might want one).
3) It will come in 2019 to coincide with Pentax 100 year anniversary.

I suspect it will have a hybrid finder system.

I suspect it will have the look-and-feel of a K-1.

I'm guessing Pentax will use that general look to distinguish their cameras from other cameras.

This sounds very exciting if they do apply this technology. Been reading up on that patent. Hopefully 2019 will be the year for Pentax.

1) not a traditional DSLR, this could mean:
A)Mirrorless
B) hybrid viewfinder
C) new translucent mirrorless tech
D) B and C

2) high speed and high resolution

3) I hope so

The K-1 II smokes it, unfortunately with most companies moving to mirrorless it may be hard to find a sensor that doesnt have a banding issue. Maybe some sensors will be made with limited number of or no board phase detection points.

I read a comment on the internet some time ago, I cannot remember word for word but it is something like - people talking about their brand moving into the mirrorless market, a new territory, etc but Pentax users can only / still talk about the 2 delayed lenses on the roadmap. I couldn’t angry at such comment but only laugh at myself… yeeeeah, that’s truth. whatever!
Hopefully i still happy with my k3.

Next year is the 100 year’s old birthday of the brand? I hope they have something more than a new shiny roadmap to show at CP+. Anything,… GR3.5.1.0 Gunmetal Limited Edition? bring it on
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Indeed!

Personally, I want a photographic camera with a sensor optimized solely to make photographs. I don't want is compromised by the engineering needs of autofocus or video.

I hope you get the camera you've been waiting for very long to receive! A hybrid viewfinder with more focusing aids and the ability to use CDAF to micro adjust lenses for PDAF would be super. You'd get some of the niceties of mirrorless ilcs without having to switch mounts.

I really do hope they update the DA* zooms and some of the cheaper primes that are still on screwdrive sooner than later though. They seem so antiquated today...
