Sorry to disappoint here, but I think K3III is unlikely to happen or that will be at a loss. DSLR market shrinking, most people using mobile phone means no viable selling quantities for Pentax. Most likely senario is Canikon & Co. to downsize drastically to stay profitable with much less selling quantities, and Ricoh to divest its DSLR business, we already see it this year with no new DSLR product.
An ‘IMHO’ is preferred for this sort of post. Pentax has directly contradicted that assertion. Japanese don’t lie about such things. You don’t actually know anything.

On the contrary, the global economy is entering a booming growth phase, RIcoh Imaging is apparently profitable and Ricoh has little invested capital at risk but significant upside from spherical and lens patents applied to machine vision and autonomous heavy machinery. Camera equipment can be profitable on a low-volume, high-margin business model.

The lack of marketing is a business decision. Pentax Brand products are cost-advantaged vs. Canikon since there is no distribution infrastructure, dealer support or advertising to price into the gear.

Is KP a new DSLR product?

Then why bother announce the new DA* 11-18 coming this summer, 2018?

So what if instead of Alice you're saying D8x0, or 5D (Mk I, II, III...)? What if instead of Bob you're saying K-1? See, your system doesn't add anything at all.
But it does add something. Alice never presents a dead end imposed by poorly planned nomenclature. Otherwise, you are
correct; Alice conveys no more and no less information than K-1. It is just a name, but a name not pinned to a one way street with a definite end of
cycle.

Of course, the cycle can just be restarted. And that has indeed been done, with its own inherent problems. Witness the continual confusion between
the KX and K-x.

I'm happy for it to be called K-3 III, that's fine, we should see some nice improvements and a polish of what there is. All I ask for

I guess that the KP-1 may arise as well The K-1a

So we are still a year away from a new APS-C flagship body? Hard to believe, but Ricoh doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to do anything.

Calm down, the rumour claims it will be announced next year. Only announced. In a year. And the whole thing is only a rumour.
And even if tomorrow a new DSLR is released, your K-3II will be just as good. This isn't Apple, who has admitted to throttling their old products

If you look back at the previous articles on that website, which I don't particularly recommend doing if you value your time, there is no indication that they have had advance information about Pentax/Ricoh products of their own. It just seems to be announcements and rumors as reported on other websites. This one is so vague as to be useless. So I place no value on this report.

If I had to make a guess, I would say it will be previewed at CP+ and released around the same time as that new wide APS-C zoom, which they said was due in summer 2018. We should have the 50mm before then, and I think a GR successor is possible too. The other camera that is even more overdue than the high end APS-C is a successor to the K-S1 - something truly small and light, but I realize that a lot of people think that won't happen.

Basically, I interpret this quiet period as Ricoh working on things, and when they spend time on a product, they rarely disappoint (K-3, K-1 both had quiet periods before introduction). In the meantime, Ricoh has a pretty comprehensive line-up of cameras at the moment.

Even the older models match up quite well to Canon and Nikon equivalent models. So why rush out models for the sake of it?

Zero credibility on anything in that article. Nothing more than speculation.

Ignoring all the Hoya misuse of historical cues -
  1. On FF, replace K with L . . .
  2. Replace numbers with letters
  3. Start with X
  4. On APSc replace K with M . . .
  5. Replace numbers with letters
  6. Start with X
D LX, 2, 3 . . . (fewer features, inferior sensor) - 20, 30
D MX, 2, 3 . . . (12-bit RAW, 30-50-70 control set) - 20, 30
Why revert to 12 bit raw? The low level line is 14 bit now.

All of us could ask the same question like in article and make the same supposition. Nothing to discuss at all.

It'll be an all-gold model and they'll lump it in with the new Star Wars promotional material for their new film.
