KP is an awesome all around aps-c camera, good at most everything, great at some things, small, solid as a rock, and ultra easy to use. I let an old friend, who has made a living with his Nikon gear since I was in high school, play with my KP with a 20-40 mounted for a few hours last weekend. He was quite impressed and reports that he has changed his opinion of Pentax DSLR cameras in general.

DC Camera Watch is based on what people found a good deal and perhaps good all round performance, handling, size, etc.
TCS is based on a camera review site where one expects a continual improvement in cameras (even if its no longer realistic nowadays).

The Japanese market can be different from overseas.
They can expect small size, good handling, well thought out features, lineage, good looks, good quality over "big" and what pros use.
