As already mentioned, in Sweden we use that, and as a bonus, happens to be the ISO standard date format as well (
ISO 8601 - Wikipedia) and works nicely to get chronological order of files, folders etc when sorting numerically! Can replace the whole catalog part or LR by folders =) (almost maybe...)
Edit: Ouch, the iso part and file sorting was already mentioned as well, just read the first few words of that post...doh! as Homer would say =)
