Uh... it ain't... not all people buying APS-C do that because they can't afford FF... there are some advantages which are intrinsic to APS-C format.
Regarding the naming scheme, it's a mess.
X is taken (X-5), P is not attractive (Piss-Poor, I'd say, a Poo Package), K has been exploited to death.
I'd say either N or T.
Pentax T-1, T-1mkII, T-2, T-2mkII for FF top-of-the-line
Pentax T-10, T-10mkII etc. for APS-C top-of-the-line
Pentax T-100, T-100mkII etc. for APS-C entry/mid-level
1, 10, 100 is for major revisions, mk.II, III etc. is for incremental upgrades.
T is for Time, T is for Tank, T is for Technique... marketing dept. (uh... which mkt. dept.? nevermind...) can play with it as they like.
Tell them to get in touch with me, I will bill them reasonably for my contribution ;-)
