I really don't see a better solution.

You are right, I dream a new K-1 with much better mirror damping and a bit more speed (buffer, UHS II stuffs)... but I'm pretty sure that, if this new model came from the already mythic firmware upgrade, we will see some KP technologies on the FF model ( customizable "third wheel", huge ISO numbers, full electronic shutter to 1/24000, support for comp adjustments through Image Sync).

In this case I will not do the switch, it would be enough for me the shutter shock fix.

Highly unlikely they can fix shutter shock via firmware, it's a hardware related issue. But if by some miracle they would, I won't complain)

They already did by adding electronic shutter mode in live view.

I've been following the thread loosely, but picked up some rumours on pricing, according to a Pentax dealer on a German forum. One poster expected a price of €2500 upwards (K1 new at around €2000 currently), but the dealer denied, suggesting the K1-II will have a good price given the specs.

I Think Ricoh should adopt the Canon naming convention for it's top models. K-number + II/III/IV etc..... K-1 FF K-2 aps-c for top models. K-10 for medium FF K-20 for medium aps-c. K-30 if they want an entry level version. The hell with people who get confused with earlier models. Get used to it!
You're neglecting the 645, which is at the end of the alphabet

That camera is just beyond my scope. Maybe if Ricoh ever goes mirrorless so the body becomes manageable

Yes, cheaper than 2500 €, "the price will be good for what's coming".

I am hoping for/looking for the K1 Super Duper with 100mpx, 20 stops of DR, and 120 cross-focus points that work down to f11!

Been imagining the hint from Asahi Man...I think the next FF or K1 mkII will have a smaller body the size of K-3II. Now you have a K3rd with the innards of K-1. It a win for both wanting a K3 mark III and smaller K-1.

Remember that the K-3 II cost less at launch than the K-3. I'm not saying it will be the case with K-1 II (I'm convinced it won't), simply that an improved camera doesn't necessarily cost much more than its predecessor.

Uh... it ain't... not all people buying APS-C do that because they can't afford FF... there are some advantages which are intrinsic to APS-C format.

Regarding the naming scheme, it's a mess.
X is taken (X-5), P is not attractive (Piss-Poor, I'd say, a Poo Package), K has been exploited to death.
I'd say either N or T.

Pentax T-1, T-1mkII, T-2, T-2mkII for FF top-of-the-line
Pentax T-10, T-10mkII etc. for APS-C top-of-the-line
Pentax T-100, T-100mkII etc. for APS-C entry/mid-level
1, 10, 100 is for major revisions, mk.II, III etc. is for incremental upgrades.

T is for Time, T is for Tank, T is for Technique... marketing dept. (uh... which mkt. dept.? nevermind...) can play with it as they like.

Tell them to get in touch with me, I will bill them reasonably for my contribution ;-)
