If the original Tweet is accurate, that could indicate the K-3-3 is further away hoped for by some.

"Eleven digital camera information station @ nokishita_c

It seems that Ricoh's next SLR will be "PENTAX K - 1 Mark II". It is still unknown when it will be announced. #rumor"

It looks like a know-nothing rumor: a guess.

not sure if this is either good news or bad news if it is accurate in saying this is the next DSLR that will be released, I mean wouldn't a new top model APSC be a better choice?

Full-Frame is where there is profit to be made in camera bodies and lenses. I think it's reasonable Ricoh continue to pursue this higher margin business since their market share is so small anyway.

Yes exactly, that what I would have thought when Ricoh decided that it was the right time to start a Pentax FF product line. With image quality in mind, cost of sensors going down (going from 8 inch wafers to 12 inch wafers), full frame sensors now cost what crop sensors costed 5 to 10 years ago. And crop has reached its resolution sweep spot already, so there is no much incentive to continue apsc beside improving AF and frame rate. Technical and business wise, it makes a lot of sense to develop the full frame format and make it again the mainstream format.

Thoughts about K-1ii and K-3iii

I am also waiting for K-3iii, but does it make sense? Recent competitors Like the D7500, 80D were introduced around 1,500 € in Germany. The K-1 can be bought around 1,800 €, the K-P is still 1,300€. That does not leave much room for a high-end APS-C, does it?

On the other hand, if the K-1ii is a substantial upgrade (42 MPix, improved AF, etc), it will cost you an arm and a leg. See the prices for the 5Dmk4 and D850. In this case I would expect a K-3iii to be arount 2,000 €.

Just my thoughts
Albert

There is room for people wanting to use their k mount lenses on the crop body. Otherwise, sure, there is already a selection of crop bodies from the competition.
