The K-P is at 960 EUR without discounts. Smart buyers could recently get it for about 700 EUR. The K-1 was available for some time for about 1500 EUR.

A model "II" has always only received very minor tweaks. So expect a faster SD slot and some firmware tweaks, end of story. These models are just there to justify raising price levels for another time period. And they use purely cosmetical stuff to do this. Anything which does not cost anything really. So start thinking about what they could do without significant material or development costs.

Behind the scenes rumours of the next camera being FF have been around for a while (even Northrup was predicting it at the end of last year) and don't go away despite being seemingly illogical with the K-1 the most recent Pentax DSLR (apart from the KP, which is on a track of its own) - which does make one wonder if they're not true. I think most Pentax users are more than happy with the K-1 and it's much too soon (financially) for many of us to upgrade, so it would have to be aimed at winning market share - which would be an interesting proposition...

A few tweaks applied to current model, which would make it closer to perfect.

could indicate the K-3-3 is further away hoped for by some
that is very disappointing, but they do need to fix the shutter on the K-1, so that could be the best move for them at this stage.

I am also waiting for K-3iii, but does it make sense? Recent competitors Like the D7500, 80D were introduced around 1,500 € in Germany. The K-1 can be bought around 1,800 €, the K-P is still 1,300€. That does not leave much room for a high-end APS-C, does it?

On the other hand, if the K-1ii is a substantial upgrade (42 MPix, improved AF, etc), it will cost you an arm and a leg. See the prices for the 5Dmk4 and D850. In this case I would expect a K-3iii to be arount 2,000 €.

Just my thoughts

Kp is less than $900 USD in the U.S. now, so I imagine an APSC flagship at $1400 is still possible for Pentax.

Perhaps Pentax is doing it like Sony and is releasing a highspeed camera next, like the Sony A7s.

Pentax K-1 Mark II to be Announced Next | Camera Rumors
Camera Rumors explicitly quote Nokishita Camera; it's therefore the same source.

I also heard a few days ago about an improved K-1 to be announced sometimes in February (hence my post here about a "K-1 Super")..

So that is the new firmware Asahi man was talking about. I would predict addition of a noise processing chip, some changes to the function dial. A better hard top that doesn't break so easily. AF will get small improvements and so will stabilisation. Maybe half a stop more.
