Has sony released a 24+ BSI sensor for APS-C yet?
The reality is that the only higher spec sensor availble at the moment is the 42MP BSI FF sensor.
Therefor any plans Ricoh had for updating camera lines are currently being dictated too by sensor availability.
If the 36mp sensor has been discontinued then Ricoh may not have even had the choice.

And I even used it with the 55-300... Difficult to go more cheap than me to reach 300mm... I actually had to get near equator to get enough light to get some photos out of that uter garbage... Quality is so bad I am not even sure you'll be able to tel appart the photos of the elephant from the one of gnus...

Seriously, I prefer to get a few day more there in vacations or in Vietnam, Cambodge, India, Icelad and so on than to get too much fancy gear...

Story of a cheap guy with its cheap: A7 + 28-75, K3 with DA15, DA21, FA31, FA77... Only cheap gear. I wonder how most of the forum should feel ? Uterly poor ?
Well, that DA 55-300 is quite good on FF too. I have it as WR version. Nice and zippy AF on K-1.
Look, I have nothing against having fun with old gear, where you can find great bargains. But those bargains should not diverse idea of what is worth and how much. I and a lot of others have paid K-1 what has been asked, And quite frankly, I have no regrets. As I might have for example some other gear that I have paid for. I liked my K-3 too, but this is so much better ergonomically, functionally...so I am happy with it. Is it worth it. Yes. But in couple yrs.there will be better one

Per my previous request, folks... let's move on from the A7 (nice camera though it is) and keep the thread "K-1 II" oriented. I appreciate that other brands and current / recent models may have relevance (e.g. the A99II's sensor), of course.

Thank you

In the end the gear is far less important than the rest: subject lighting, composition. As such why bother with big/heavy/expensive? Make no sense as an amateur. As a pro, sure.
You are right that owning the best and most expensive gear provides no guarantee of getting good photos.

And yet having the best subject lighting and composition provides no guarantee of getting good photos, either.

It really takes both the right photographic ideas and the right photographic equipment to create great images.

Obviously each person must decide what sort of pictures they want to make to determine what sort of gear they need to have (or they may decide to limit their photography to the gear that they have or can afford). Perhaps pros do more of the former and amateurs do more of the latter but the outcome is the same -- gear is just as important as vision because both are required to make and take the photograph.

An amateur such as myself might well want to take pictures that lighter or cheaper gear cannot easily produce. I want to take photographs outdoors without regard for weather conditions (which rules out Sony). I want to easily and quickly take photographs in low light with no flash (which rules out bulky tripods with Canon and Nikon). I want wide angle, good DoF control, and high DR, which pushes me to prefer FF to APS-C. Finally, I want a camera that offers a breadth of control of exposure, metering, AF, etc. which pretty much takes me to the K-1.

When I look at all the choices, the K-1 is more robust, better in low light, and much more functional than any other camera with the added bonus that it costs less than the competing (but inferior!) options.

What if they’ve got the 42Mp BSI sensor from the A99ll (now 18 months old), have done the ‘Pentax tweak’, have developed a new PDAF sensor (which has been holding up new releases) for use in all three platforms (on APSc they just turn off the edge focus points), add a better buffer, faster throughput, OK video and the KP/K-70 image professor stuff - and price it against the Sony the way K-1 was priced against D850? Say $2,199? That’s a K-1 Super!

Then bring D FA50, D FA85, D FA20 or 24, APSc flagship, the 11-18 and an f/4 Zoom?

Who’s cryin now?
I really wouldn't want to see that. I REALLY wouldn't. No I wouldn't. Not at all. I'm SERIOUS. Not until my bank balance has recovered.

Ofcourse that is exactly what are doing, well maybe not exactly but likely close.

The K-1 is great and it was built for Pentax users. This one will be for everyone else too.

Cheap but redundant. You've got the A7 28-75 already covered by the K3+DA15+DA21+DA31, and using DA15 and DA21 on A7 gets you worse images. You could sell off the K3 with both DA21 and DA15. Or you could sell the A7 and 28-75 and keep the K3 with DA15+DA21. A7+28-75 is actually larger than K3+primes; that's a tough one.

add ... the.. image professor
That would be a game changer. Each K-1II with inbuilt academic advisor. No more wondering what the "rule of thirds" is. Or how to frame. Just ask your personal image professor.

And with that, folks, my final polite request - the third such - before I have to start moderating posts... Back to the K-1II, or at least Pentax, yes?

Thank you!

If it has high bit-rate and good shake reduction in video mode I will buy it, (maybe 2)

I hate having to have two systems that you need to carry around, one for filming and one for photographs. I just want one system that can get them both done well, and I would love that system to be Pentax.

The sensor or the pixelcount is not the major problem of the K1.
The MKii may improve on shutter shock, general speed, AF and tracking, fps, shake reduction.
