The biggest thing was the flash system...or lack thereof. He couldn't get half his stuff to work right with the Z. In particular, HSS was something he couldn't get working, despite his efforts. He's a true pro too (does advertising photos for a living), so it was truly impossible. There's lots of non-lens things to a system and Pentax doesn't compete in those regards, at least for his needs.
TBH, it was a major reality check for me in how limited the Pentax system can be. Even a great product like the Z has major limits that pros can't deal with.
