All the K-1 needs is an update to UHS-II to solve the problems with the current K-1.

It is pointless to update anything without moving to UHS-II first.

Any chance The K-1ii could share the one in the D850? If that's not contracted specifically to them? Seems like going 45mp will get them marketing brag rights, it seems to be a good sensor.

My only critical complaints for Pentax FF are in the lense availability (hence D750 listed below, no 150-600 tamron/sigmas) and AF-C. AF-S is great. AF-C is really behind. Just borrow someones properly setup Nikon/Canon/Olympus Em-1ii in AF-C sometime, Pentax needs to close that gap. Olympus and Fuji both had slow AF and closed that up. It feels like Pentax has saved money in that area for a while as I'm sure it's expensive to develop.

Funny guy! Stating you are expecting a "minor" update and then describing a camera with newer everything - sensor, processor, card slots, USB, touch screen, etc. Yeah, that's totally minor.
if they change the sensor (which i think they have to, as the current 36MP Sensor is discontinued) they will need a different image processor to deal with the increased amount of data. so if they use a new image processor, this will most likely have the processing power to support 4k and if it does, it is very likely that it will also have faster cardreader hardware and a suitable USB 3.x I/O to support the larger data streams when recording.

In the end it all drills down to a mainboard redesign. they only need to change 2 chips, update the cardreaders and the usb connector and they're good to go for another 2 years and a 500-1000$ price increase.

The cheaper Monitor may or may not happen, but if they decide to change it, they might want to catch up with nikon and use a touchscreen.

As i wrote - i'm just guessing. Just as 100% of the rest of the thread's participants. ;-) We'll see...

Looking forward to whatever is about to appear on the horizon.

It's very useable now, providing you have one of the fast new DFA lenses. I don't miss AF speed using the K-1 and the DFA150-450 anymore.

No, No.
Perhaps borrowing ideas from KP.

You realise that Pentax are so small and have so limited resources that they had to drop the Q line and put the 645 line and top APS-C camera line on the back-burner in order to be able to develop the 24x36 line at the astonishing pace of one camera every fourth year (with a slightly revised version in-between) and one lens every second year et you would like them to launch yet another line of bodies and lenses?

I don't see how they could without a large capital injection from the mother company, which they won't obtain. The bulk of the resources available to Smart Vision goes to the development of the Theta ecosystem, because growth potential is seen as being there and not in the traditional camera market.

None. It's a proprietary development financed by Nikon for their own use.

At least they improved it vs the K3 line. All I see in reviews (esp the dpreview one) are not great AF-C results. Other than that Cameraville guy but he seems a bit biased to Pentax like he's about to become the Jared Polin of Pentax youtube.

If it's fixed they need to beat this point to absolute death, then kick it some more, and one last time, again until it's no longer discussed anywhere. While comparing with D750 I saw this mentioned countless times which definitely was a factor in my decision having become really annoyed with AF-C in my K3/5/7 over the last 9 years. Really the 150-600's availability killed the K-1 for me more than AF-C, they need to do something naughty with Sigma or Tamron and get those in K mount.

It is not.
Canon >> Cash flow from everything, as far as the eye can see
Nikon >> Mitsubishi (if they need it)
Sony >> Cash Flow from many sources; capital available
Fuji >> Instax - my children buy it
Pentax >> Ricoh, which is still restructuring; impaired Compact Plant writedown; Theta is the future

We’re really fortunate to have what we have.

Exactly. What those guys are able to achieve with what little money they have is remarkable.
