if they change the sensor (which i think they have to, as the current 36MP Sensor is discontinued) they will need a different image processor to deal with the increased amount of data. so if they use a new image processor, this will most likely have the processing power to support 4k and if it does, it is very likely that it will also have faster cardreader hardware and a suitable USB 3.x I/O to support the larger data streams when recording.
In the end it all drills down to a mainboard redesign. they only need to change 2 chips, update the cardreaders and the usb connector and they're good to go for another 2 years and a 500-1000$ price increase.
The cheaper Monitor may or may not happen, but if they decide to change it, they might want to catch up with nikon and use a touchscreen.
As i wrote - i'm just guessing. Just as 100% of the rest of the thread's participants. ;-) We'll see...

It's very useable now, providing you have one of the fast new DFA lenses. I don't miss AF speed using the K-1 and the DFA150-450 anymore.
