It's therefore possible that we will soon not only see a K-1 II full frame, but also a successor to Pentax's aging APS-C flagship.
This is the important quote. An article on the front page by "PF Staff" is not quite the same as a post on the rumor board by an unknown forum user. Despite it being coached in a way to make deniability possible to get around any ND agreements.

The K-3II was moved to the discontinued model page on the Ricoh-Imaging website. I see no reason to do that unless there is another model that will replace it, surely it has been out of production for a long time. So what is the point of marking it 'discontinued'?

That red jpeg artifact looks suspiciously like the artifact showing on the screen cap from the CZ Facebook page in the article on the front page of PentaxForums
You could be right, and that might be where Asahiman got the original image from, to which he added some digits and opacity to make it even harder to distinguish (making it look more mysterious). I am going out on a limb and prophesying that your "red jpeg artifact" is an alignment dot for a bayonet lens mount. You saw it here first folks, the K-1 II will not accept M42 mount lenses.

On the CZ FB image the red spot is on the edge of whatever lens is mounted, but that would certaintly be a reason to pass on the upgrade.

I think this is a K3 styled version of the KP to satisfy users who need the bigger battery. They have just given the camera the KP's battery grip styling so as to incorporate a larger battery, ditched the retro styling of the KP and maybe addressed a few other KP deficiencies . So it is not a new flagship ASP-C, just an alternative to the KP.

I don't think the K-1 MkII will look any different to the current K-1 but it might have a new sensor given that Ricoh refer to new coming super high Mp sensors in their * series lens blurb.

If you reread the PF front page article you will find it is not confirmation at all. It refers to "chatter" and "rumors." The closest it comes to anything approved or official is the mention of the now deleted RI Czech Facebook post.
"How much truth is there to these two rumors? We'll soon find out! As usual, we will be covering the CP+ show to report on any potential news and conduct our annual interview with the Pentax team."
Thank you for the link. I have now read the Pentax Forums front page article and there is a blatant misinterpretation or misattribution in it:
QuoteOriginally posted by Pentax Forums staff:

Nokishita Camera never claimed that "we will see a "Pentax K-1" announced at the upcoming CP+ trade show". They wrote:
QuoteOriginally posted by Nokishita Camera:
リコーが次に発表する一眼レフは「PENTAX K-1 Mark II」になるらしい。いつ頃発表されるかはまだ不明。
which can be translated by "It seems that Ricoh's next SLR will be the "PENTAX K-1 Mark II". It is still unknown when it will be announced."

Really? That red jpeg artifact looks suspiciously like the artifact showing on the screen cap from the CZ Facebook page in the article on the front page of PentaxForums.
But the K-1 on the CZ page does not have the aperture attenuator bump...

Going by previous teasers, the number 218 is "days to announcement". That would put it somewhere in the run-up to the 2018 Christmas sales.

Because it could'nt be weeks, could it? Or do you think it means months?

It is already well established the date is xx0218 in ddmmyy format. The 0 in 02 is faintly visible when the image is enlarged. The announcement of K-1 Super (or whatever it is) will be made coincident with CP+.

It appears asahiman did some additional work on the image.

"Retro styling" is not a deficiency.

You do mean K3 Battery grip don't you? Wouldn't that technically make it a K3 replacement if the basic form factor changed from the KP's form factor??

Guess we already established that Asahiman isnt very precice when it come to "hours or days". Both turned into weeks or months in the firmware case, so it is probably the same here.

Yeah, the zero is visible even without playing with the picture. But it is certainly not 'well established' that those numbers are a date in February.

No the styling is not but the battery size may be, some people moaned about the small battery when the KP was launched.

I am just suggesting that they may have a K-3 like development of the KP to address some specification deficiencies and to tie things over for a while until they decide if it is worth developing a high end ASP-C camera.

Provided that this is a genuine new camera in the image and if there is no high-end APS body for imminent release, then it must be an FF camera at the size of the K-3. Such a camera doesn't sound like a K-1 II.
Could there be two FF cameras in the pipeline? A small FF body and a updated K-1? A sufficiently small FF body with sufficient of megapixels (more than 36) could be tempting for APS users as well, and will sit nicely along with the KP in the line-up.

Or, this could all be a huge Subterfuge on Asahiman's part, sort of a classic American Football term called a Misdirection play that has the defense thinking the play is going to go one place and it ends up going an entirely different place. Think about it

Well now, that would be an entirely different model wouldn't it. Do you remember the K-50 which was basically a K-30 with a different body?
