The USB 2.0 and the SD card speed (and consequently the buffer clearing time) are probably functions integrated into the PRIME processor.

(By the way, isn't the USB 3 connector on the K-3 actually working at USB 2.0 speeds? I don't have the camera so I cannot test it myself)

When did the Pentax Rumors site become a reliable source of information?

There are no suprises. K1 has very good image quality at low ISO and also at high ISO, with a mettering system a little "outdated" that makes high ISO images taken in dificult conditions to look a little on the green side, at least when comes to skintones (nothing that can't be solved in PS or Lightroom however).
There are no suprises for people like you that have already done some real life comparisons. For me it was a big surprise considering the generation gap between D850 and the K-1 for example. I don't want to elaborate because I don't have any intention to influence members in here or other users in general, but I'm happy with my decisions so far and it is always nice to see it. FYI I was shooting (for the kind of things I do) with my K-1 + DFA 150-450 along with D850 + Sigma 150-600S and 5DIV + Canon 100-400 II. As you very well said we are talking about slight differencies but I'm printing mostly very big (0,5m * 1m di-bonds being my smaller prints), where the quality of the RAW file is evident.

It's nice that they focused on improving image quality (which is already very good) with this K1 Mark II, but (and there is a big but here) it's strange that they didn't updated USB 2.0 port for tethering and file transfer, the USH-3 slot card and the buffer clearing time. I don't know if they simply don't have the budget or they are not interested in anything related to focus capabilities and file transfer.
I don't disagree. Given that what has leaked is true this is a focus on IQ. There are many other sectors where K-1 lacks behind competition, but when you know why you are shooting such a camera and what to expect, the IQ improvement is equally important to some photographers! I'm one of them. And if I see an improvement in IQ like the step from K-5 to K-5IIs I think the K-1 will become my 2nd body and I won't wait for the next APS-C. But as I said, this is just me.

This leaked update is fine by me. I might even buy it, thought I had planned on used K-1. I don't see that this update would decrease prices for used K-1, so instead might go for new one for better high ISO performance. AF points and AF-C performance are unimportant to me as long as I'm mainly interested to play with manual vintage lenses.

But I'm not in a hurry. I'll see how mark II compares to original and decide later.

We don't know how many units the k1 was targeting. Updates like this often occur during remanufacture. If we have to order more boards anyway why not add...etc. We don't know if the original k1's processing was a budget/time decision, and we basically have no idea of any of the goings on internally. Chips reaching EOL are external problems too. The realities of day to day are much more boring then the swaths of ideas for world domination through busness strategy

The K1 is a classic, MKII or not.

I doubt the 36mp sensor is end of life, maybe some modifications and a new part number which generated rumors that it's dead.

The D760 is rumored to use a 36mp sensor which is probably the same one in the k-1 minus the ricoh accelerator part. It wouldn't be a surprise to see the a7II successor also use 36mp.

Tough competition for the K-1ii ahead with everyone else over 40mp and the budget FF market switching to 36mp.

Not much to see here it seems. Nice adjustments to a nice camera but until Ricoh gets auto focus that competes with Nikon/Canon I'll stick with my K3ll. Would love a Pentax full frame but it has to do a lot better with autofocus.....

Improved shake reduction = elimination of shutter shock problem? That would be a good thing.

Under flash I saw the words "Wireless Sync". Is this new? I admit my ignorance of the newer flash technologies and setups. I use flash in about 1% of 1% of my photographs.

I think there are a couple of points. First of all, incorporating new hardware, even something that they've had on other camera bodies (accelerator chip) does require some amount of testing and fine tuning. Is it enough to shut down development of other cameras? Probably not, but that may be more just that the production lines are going to be taken up with building these new cameras for a few months before they can move on to something else.

Second, is that unfortunately there is no new tech here. The hope was that this camera would have better specs that could be shared down to the K3 III, but that just isn't the case. The only new thing may be a new image stabilization assembly. Otherwise it's all stuff that they already have.

Third is that I do think there will be a real improvement in image quality with the accelerator chip. The K-1 already has a 1/3 stop better high iso score compared to the D850, that could easily improve by another half stop with this and if Pentax could advertise (I know, they don't advertise, but still) the best high iso performance of any full frame camera out there, then that would be something significant.

As far as frame rate, I think that is probably sensor limited. It just doesn't do more than about 5 frames per second and unless they go with the 42 megapixel sensor from Sony (which would cost more) faster frame rates probably weren't going to happen.

This update does leave me more hopeful about an updated K3 II by the end of the year. I can't imagine this K1 project absorbing most of their resources and they have to have been thinking about what is next for APS-C, which is where most of their sales come from anyway.

Is it enough for you guys with K-1's to upgrade? I don't see guys with D850's making a switch for a half stop of high ISO.

I think people making the jump to K-1 probably have mostly done so. Sales for this K-1ii will highly depend on whether you guys that own it upgrade or K3 owners decide it's worth the jump.
