If the images are real then they stayed with UHS-I which doesn't mitigate the root issue with the K-1.

UHS-II would at least cut in half the length of time it takes the pixel shift process to complete from start to finish i.e. finally writing the image to the SD card then being able to take another image.

I take your point, though candied rose petals are pretty good

The problem is not that people are asking questions. The problem is that people aren't listening for the answers.

Haha, Ricoh has scheduled the announcement of some equipment to a certain time and people are collecting truncated information from various more or less dubios sources in the internet beforehand and getting confused? Really wondering about that?

"only a surferknows the feeling" was a TV advert theme in OZ a while ago....they nailed it!

Pentax Pixel Shift Resolution has been very well accepted with the PENTAX K-3 II, K-70, and KP. We have adopted an upgraded version of the Pixel Shift Resolution to PENTAX K-1 Mark II. The system is apart from the conventional Bayer system, which only captures single unit of color data in each pixel. Pixel Shift Resolution captures four images of the same scene by shifting the image sensor by a single pixel, using the SRII mechanism. With this, each pixel captures all colors, resulting in super-high-resolution images, true to life colors with much finer details, while significantly lowering the level of high-sensitivity noise With the K-1 Mark II, we are able to achieve Dynamic Pixel Shift Resolution.

This technology is a revolutionary technology which comes from reverse thinking to utilize the minute camera shake itself to produce the composite images. Therefore, by detecting the camera shake in three dimensions, the continuously captured four images are analyzed based on the detected camera shake information and produce one super high resolution image. During the Dynamic Pixel Shift Resolution, as the image is not captured using sensor movement like traditional Pixel Shift Resolution, the SR II system can be used to correct for camera shake. By coupling both features, Dynamic Pixel Shift Resolution can be effectively used during low light situations even without tripod. From the technology point of view, when you are using tripod, the Pixel Shift Resolution II images will produce higher resolution.

...and what was their source? That article should have been put in quotes with a reference to where they got it, i.e. who are "we"?

They will communicate when they have something to say.

Pentax is not the only company not broadcasting their plans on CNN.

I don't know how to explain the feeling, but it's not one I enjoy.
Are you in the market to replace your K-3II? Should we be disappointed if the K-3III is physically identical to the K-3II except for the improvements rumored for the K-1II?

Going a step further, should we be disappointed if, for the next round of cameras/lenses (say until Photokina in September):
  • Flash sync stayed the same?
  • No touch screen?
  • Video still sucks?
  • No challenger to the D500?
  • No MILC?
  • No new f/1.4 lenses?
  • No new moderately priced lenses?
  • Continued dearth of FF ultrawides?
  • No lens collaboration with KMZ, Leitz, Zeiss, or (horrors) Net SE?
  • No automatic viewfinder AF face detection/tracking?
  • No cup holders?

However the K-1 II doesn´t seem to bring such improvements and those rumoured are more like a new firmware (that other companies add regularly, see Fuji, without calling it a "Mark II").
Nope...doesn't work that way.

As for Fuji...multiple firmware patches are typically indicative of immature product at time of release. Those features were either disabled at launch pending additional QA or, like the night mode screen for Pentax, a trivial modification to an existing scheme/feature.
