I'm so very confused, if the pictures just posted to pentaxrumors is correct... I literally just took out my K-1, just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. This looks identical in every way to the camera I currently have in my hand. Looking over the specs, besides a boost in ISO performance, maybe a slight improvement on Pixel-shift (which I truly didn't ask for)... I fail to spot the key difference. What am I missing??
I don't believe you're missing anything obvious. And I don't consider this to be any different in broad scope to the K-3 vs K-3II refresh (the K-3II also looked identical to the K-3, save for a slightly different prism hump). It's not a completely new model. It's not even a major upgrade. It's a minor, mid-term refresh... and, so far as we know, to be priced accordingly.

I think you were probably expecting the K-2... and I think you're at least a year too early for that. Remember, the K-1 is only two years old...

Not too much developement budget spent on MKii - fair enough. 1.5-2 year until we can expect a real update. A faster APS-C solution maybe before. Bring on lenses.
If my K1 fails today, I would definitely get a MKii to replace it. Decent marketing. On the other hand I would not sell K1 for K1 ii unless some internal spec is revealed to us with official release.

They fixed the creaking in the hand grip, problems with the mode dial an leg/arm popping out of the articulated screen. Not very noticeable externally :P

People keep comparing this to the K-5ii release, but removing the AA-filter was a big deal, and the improvements to ISO were very needed. This literally feels like the same camera. I think ISO can be difficult to spot, especially in a camera that already had amazing ISO control and dynamic range... Is this really what has delayed development of a APS-C or Medium format successor??... 'say it ain't so Pentax, say it ain't so'...
Not sure what you were expecting? This is clearly a 'mkII' not a new camera. So nothing external is going to change. Internally, who knows? Probably a few tweaks here and there. This is just the second production run of the K-1 with whatever tech is ready and can be included inside the same form factor. This is hugely good news because it means the K-1 sold through the entire production run at a margin that allows another production run.

Where is the downside? If you are looking for the NEW FF camera, I expect that in 2020 or 2021.

It is less than 2 weeks to go for CP+2018. The timing is about right.

Looks about the same as the K-1.

Good catch! That could be good news regarding the shutter shock issue.
