If it is a new shutter mechanism, I wonder what other shutter related issues have been addressed.

Flash sync improvement is a bonus.
If it is the new lens, even better!

With what is already rumoured about the K-1 II, it looks like we'll have a useful upgrade to tide us over while the next generation full frame is developed.

Given that nobody expected a new model for at least another year or so, feeling short-changed seems a bit disingenuous
Nothing on that screen suggests 1/250 flash sync to me. Looks just like my K-1 in M Mode with 24-70 mounted, except f/2.8 is the lower aperture limit. What do you see that I don’t?

OTOH, f/1.4.

The link in the first post shows the LCD with the following settings:

1/250
f/1.4
ISO400
Flash engaged

To me, that suggests a new shutter. If that also augurs well for the shutter shock issue, then happy days!

My K-1 LCD has the flash icon in M Mode as well, and I manually set the shutter speed to 1/250, ISO 400 and f/2.8 (lowest available on 24-70) with no flash mounted. There is no Flash Off setting in Menu, only the Slow Sync, Red Eye options and EV +/- . In X Flash Sync Speed, my Menu setting is 1/160 / 1/180.

What am I missing?

I don't believe you're missing anything obvious. And I don't consider this to be any different in broad scope to the K-3 vs K-3II refresh (the K-3II also looked identical to the K-3, save for a slightly different prism hump). It's not a completely new model. It's not even a major upgrade. It's a minor, mid-term refresh... and, so far as we know, to be priced accordingly.

I think you were probably expecting the K-2... and I think you're at least a year too early for that. Remember, the K-1 is only two years old...
I'd rather see a 'borinnnnng' reaction to specs than rioting in the streets.

Watch the video at post #49. The photo is K1II is clearly a faked one, photoshoped from the original K-1 stock image.

Let's take a break and wait for the new camera, what ever it is, to be released.[COLOR="Silver"]

Definitely a wait and see. Its more of a reading between the lines thing.

Agreed. A month ago nobody expected any kind of update to the K-1, but a month from now buyers will have the choice of a slightly better one or getting the existing K-1 a bit cheaper. Seems like a win for buyers.

Also, as a user of the K-5 IIs, I remember all the disappointment when that was released, but it has become a well regarded camera. There’s a difference between a newsworthy camera and a good one.
Only in two aspects - K-5IIs had better AF and no AA filter. I've sold K-5 and bought K-5IIs.

Probably nothing. I just snuck home and reproduced the same situation on my own K-1 with the DA*55 mounted

Given the K-1 has no onboard flash, what does that flash icon even mean anyway?

So I take back my wildly enthusiastic speculation....

Why do they do that do you know? Just for advertising or some other reason?

Often a finished copy isn't available when it's time to start building out a press portfolio for said product.

Looking at the K5ii and K3II, both had the II below the other writing. Still it gives us another thread for the next two days!
