So someone, anyone, could start a rumor that tomorrow Pentax will release a FF camera with AF faster and more accurate than the Nikon D500, with 20fps burst, 100 image buffer, DxOMark score of 110, priced at $700??
Yep, start the rumour and folks will be demanding that Pentax release it right away

Improved AF-C tracking algorithm. Lets see if we'll see this in a firmware update for the K1.

Ricoh have all but ruled out the possibility of adding features through a firmware update by offering a logic board swap for $550.

This actually means the SR unit in the K-1 is already complete and all the K-1 was missing was the extra processing capability to perform the Dynamic Pixel Shift calculations. That and a small tweak to the AF processing too. It's significant enough to warrant a new model while at the same time being such a tiny improvement that it's infuriating.

Really? That's great. I mean, it's not inexpensive by any means, but it gives existing owners an upgrade path whilst hanging on to their existing cameras. It's a great alternative to selling your K-1 and buying the K-1II...

I wouldn't be infuriated by the level of change. Whilst the feature set may not be hugely different, it is - as you say - enough to warrant a new refresh model. And we know by now that there's more than just firmware required to turn a K-1 into a K-1II. Most people won't need to upgrade... New buyers, however, are in luck

Woah, interesting... You think they'll upgrade my Silver Edition?

So i'll have a K-1 II Silver Edition? That would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, but you'll have to use a Sharpie marker to add the "II" labelling

EDIT: Maybe they include a Sharpie marker??

For about 1/4th the price of a K-1ii, I get a K-1ii. Sweet!

I get an extra EV or two of high-ISO performance without the added weight and cost of a bunch of new big-aperture lenses. Plus I can probably leave the tripod at home and still do pixelshift.

That's a nice upgrade for such a low price.

I couldn't agree more. And Ricoh deserves kudos for offering the upgrade. I do hope we'll see plenty of vocal support here in the forums for them taking this approach!
