Sounds good. I'll wait for k-1 II review, and then see if I want to upgrade.

There's something we've never seen a camera company do before. I can see myself upgrading my K1, I do a lot of pixel shift images.

Wow. This is great news for current K1 owners and the future of Pentax in general. Maybe no new crop flagship this year... Next year will do... But with this news and the new DFA and DA * lenses I am excited. This sounds like a company committed to staying in the game to me.

Am I the only one who gets attached to their cameras? I actually like the idea of upgrading the camera I know and have taken thousands of shots with versus starting over. I guess after the basic burn in period and some number of shutter actuations, which I'm sure I've passed, I figure the camera is proven and apt to keep going. Maybe it's why my daily driver is a 32 year old Mercedes with 253,000 miles that has been in the family for 31 years. Proven and familiar. Just feels right. Am I nuts, I mean, beyond the baseline of being a Pentax fan?

This is definitely interesting. Hopefully we'll get some solid comparisons to understand what difference the new Mark II functionality makes. If it basically just adds the ability to take Pixel Shift hand held, I'm not sure if would be worth it to me. Pretty much all the times I want Pixel Shift, I've already got the camera on a tripod.
And I'd also want to understand what the real turnaround time is.

Some of you may be old enough to remember when Kodak moved from K-12 to K-14 chemistry, from 'K' film to 'KM' film. There were some Kodachrome users who filled their freezers with the old 'K' film because they trusted it, while others of us charged ahead with the "new and improved" 'KM' film. We may see the same kind of thing here.

Wow, I would not dare let Precision touch my fully functional equipment.
I wouldn't trust them to replace the logo, let alone to replace the main circuit board.

Luckily, you have options... upgrade the board, or upgrade the camera via trade-in or private sale. Choices, choices

Damn, right after I make up my mind I'm not even looking at the K-1ii, they do this. First they weasel $2700 CAD out of me for a K-1 I said I wasn't interested in, because Mightymike put his in my hands and said "See how this feels." (I felt like running away with his friggin camera, but it was right after my hip surgery,)

Now they've found a way to weasel even more money from me. I have to say, this is way more attractive than a whole new camera. But is it more attractive than a K-70? And what will the wife say?

And to make matters worse, they did it during tax return season, which makes it even harder to resist. Who says Pentax marketing doesn't know what they are doing?
