Maybe it's why my daily driver is a 32 year old Mercedes with 253,000 miles that has been in the family for 31 years. Proven and familiar. Just feels right. Am I nuts, I mean, beyond the baseline of being a Pentax fan?

Nope, you're right. Statistically, electronics or machines are most likely to fail when they're brand new. Also better for the environment to keep using old equipment. Even your car. Especially your car, actually! Better still, don't drive at all...

And to make matters worse, they did it during tax return season, which makes it even harder to resist.
I just had a flash of inspiration for Pentax's next camera model name...

See, it's even more complex. You are doing your "duty" helping to keep the company alive by doing the upgrade, and therefore helping to ensure the company's survivial to sell you the next full frame after faithfully upgrading the first one.

Pretty cool, ain't it?

I wonder if the logo change will make my Sigma scratch go away too.

No, they will then say that it should be 8k to be future proof and how they can't take home videos with 4K.

Damn, right after I make up my mind I'm not even looking at the K-1ii, they do this. First they weasel $2700 CAD out of me for a K-1 I said I wasn't interested in, because Mightymike put his in my hands and said "See how this feels." (I felt like running away with his friggin camera, but it was right after my hip surgery,)
*sob* *sniff* My K-1 is barely one month-old. Oh the pain.. the dilemma... </first_word_problems>

Wow! I'm definitely in. I was going to pass on the II version, but this is great.

For some reason I think there will be even more to come.

I'm getting nice results at iso 4000 with the K1 already. This is substantially cropped. Will the K1 II even be better than this?

If i upgrade my k1 to k1 markii wht s gonna be my benefits?
Markii has more aouto focus, has more frame per seconds , has 4k video?
It has just better pixel shift????
I'm not clear what s the difference and is it worth for paying 550$ to upgrade?

The k1 has a snr of 28db at iso 4000 and dynamic range of about 9.5. I would love to know how high the iso on mark ii can still get those measurements. My guess is about 8000.

Its a do or lose out situation....

Spend $550 and you get to sell your K1 at K1II 2nd hand prices in 2yrs time.
Don't do it and you get to sell your K1 at a perceived "obsolete" , even lower 2nd hand price.

If K1II was the same as right now, but with 4K video, w/o an upgrade option, I'd be even more disappointed, since I'd have to spend this $1999 for PSII and not have any use for the 4K video (since I don't shoot it).

I'll wait for some more info/samples/use impressions on PSII and AF to decide on the upgrade, though in my opinion, its not a bad dilemma to have.

If I can get a stop of performance for $690 I'm in. That is doubling the shutter speed, stopping down a full stop for depth of field. I got at least a stop of performance moving from the K3 to the K1, probably a bit more, and I'm able to shoot at dusk and dawn, carefully. Another stop buys opens up that magic moment when wildlife starts moving around.

We shall see of course.
